RIP...Meadowlark

Post by Mikey »

Yeah I know there's an NBA forum, but this isn't the NBA.
Yeah I know the Globtrotters aren't what they once were, but Meadowlark was the best of them when I was a kid. I loved watching their specials and rooting for the Generals while not really rooting for the Generals.

I remember when the Trotters went toe to toe with the then Minneapolis Lakers. They won the first two games out of 8 that were played altogether. Those games had a hand in the integration of the NBA.

The trotters were YYYYYUUUGEEE when I was a kid. Used to appear regularly on Wide World of Sports. Used to love Meadowlark's over the shoulder half court shot. Did he ever miss that fukking shot?

No matter how many times he did the bucket of confetti routine, it was never not funny. Didn't read that link above but I had read that Wilt Chamberlain said he was the greatest basketball player ever.

RIP to a true showman and gentle soul.
