Artificial drama to prop up meager ratings & sponsors is what it has turned into. The chase format is bullshit. They change the rules every year or week it seems.

NASCAR got too big with too much overhead costs to maintain... and they can't keep up.

The CS used to mean something, it was earned over the course of an entire season, now it's a crap shoot. The racing can still be good at times but the chase format has ruined the whole spectacle. A single race used to be able to stand on its own merit, now its next to meaningless.

Spot on. I believe the year that Kenseth won his championship he did not win a single race. Just consistently ran well.

I used to hate Jeff Gordon, but now that he quit sleeping with his tire-changer, I was kind of pulling for him to win it.
