Next door neighbor had a leak in his plumbing. Homes here are built on a slab, no basements or ever crawl spaces. His pipes were in/under the slab. What a mess he had to deal with. Had his plumbing all redone. Looks good when it's done, but must have set you back a few buck$$$.

trev, your "before" pictures are probably nicer than some peoples after.

Our bathroom had to be completely gutted down to the floor joists and drywall.

$12,500 and 7 days later, our shithole is much nicer. We knew somebody and got off cheap.

But it's still a shithole.

We have the same situation. Pipes underneath the slab. And shotty construction on top of that. This leak was actually a pin-hole in the wall between shower and toilet. It caused some damage. We are re-plumbing all thru attic instead. Too many problems the other way. In California, no one has basements.

Yes, it was so much money, I don't even want to add it up.

Well, poptart, I made many trips to the plumbing place, wrote way too many painful checks, and had my wonderful contractor invade my home early many mornings. This means, I had to get showered, dressed and up and at 'em early! Also, had to take back crap that didn't work out. But, I get what you are getting at! LOL

I love our contractor, btw. He has a key to our home and I totally trust him.

Not much really, it's how all new construction is done now. PEX is far superior to metals. Nice plumbing work trev, it may have cost a bit but it looks like they did a great job. The blue PEX to the upper shower head from the valve is well played, although I wouldn't have used copper to the tub spout but that's nit picky crap..Enjoy, Nice bathroom.

Nice remodel Trev. I like the overhead shower.

We had ours done last year - it was a HUGE job and took what seemed like months to complete. Worst part was four people sharing one small bathroom while construction was going on.

We have separate tub and shower, which was in a glass enclosure. We were able to make both larger by switching them around but had to completely dig up the floor and re-do the drains. In spite of temporary plastic zipper doors we had dust all over the place. The shower is now a walk-in with shoulder high glass block wall and a big seat in front of the window. Much nicer. We also lowered the ceiling in the lavatory and put exhaust fans in both rooms. Another big improvement.

Couldn't do the overhead shower thing because the ceiling is too high.

Mikey, that sounds awesome. I'd love a separate tub and shower but could not do that in that space. If you notice, the old tub had a different drain location, so it had to be moved. They no longer make tubs like that.

I hear you on the dust! I ended up sleeping in another room it was so bad, despite all efforts to block it.

When the built our house they made the living room and master bed/bath huge but the laundry room barely has enough room for a washer, a dryer and one person. Go figure.

It may or may not be a guy thing, but if I only had room for the shower tub combo, I'd day fuck it and build a nice walk in shower.

Nice showerhead. Props on saving your marriage.

Did a similar project myself about 6 years ago. Gutted everything to the floor joists and wall studs. Did alot of the work myself so was able to keep the cost around $4K, with the biggest costs being the new cabinets and counter top, didn't hurt to have some good friends, one an electrician and the other a tile setter to keep costs down. Opted to build out a full walk in shower instead of the tub-shower combo, have never regretted. Enough of my story.

Looks good Trev, enjoy the new bathroom.

It is very nice, but I should clarify - the bathroom remodel itself was $7,500.

That came after we spent $5,000 getting the 120' ft of broken sewer line dug up and replaced.

The bathroom had been a mess for years but when the sewer main is broken, what's the point of spending a dime on a bathroom?

It's like putting a band-aid on a paper cut when your jugular vein is slit.

Yes, we literally lived in a shit hole but couldn't afford to fix it. That is, until my mother in law suddenly, unexpectedly passed away last year and we got her house sold 9 months later.

We tolerated each other... because we had to.

She worked almost to the end, not because she had to.

She started having back pain and one day collapsed at home, alone. She laid on the floor for 6 hours before the wife went and checked on her because she wasn't answering the phone. They took her to the hospital and diagnosed bone cancer.

She died in hospice 2 weeks later. She was 78.

Mikey even better, use those tooth brushes in front of the mirror and not clean them spotless. Get really wasted and post pics wearing your wife's granny panties and see how that goes for you... for the next 10 years.

You don't pay attention to detail, and you are on here 24/7. Look at Mikey's bathroom pics. Also, look at Buttsy's plea to Marty thread and figure it out. This will be the last time I explain simple things to you.

Well yeah, I could do that though I'm sort of leaning in the other direction.

Even if I did I'd still have one thing going for me...

Gorgeous reno Mikey, it makes the bathroom look twice as large
Pity your ceiling is too high for a waterfall shower head
Then it would really look like a luxury resort bathroom
