tough call, but I think mine would probably be
Led Zepplin IV
Deep Purple-Machine Head
Leo Kottke-6 and 12 String Guitar
Cream-Disraeli Gears
I'd have to have a blues album, so I'm torn between Albert King–Born Under A Bad Sign or BB King-Singin the Blues....
probably go with Albert King

No kidding this is a tough call. But there is some flexibility, as we are not listing our five favorites, and that in itself is hard as hell.

At any rate, here are mine.

Gotta have a blues album, and you don't get much better than:

Robert Johnson - "King of the Delta Blues Singers"

Beatles - "Revolver" (and I was torn here, as it could easily be "Rubber Soul")
The Who - "Quadrophenia"
Jimi Hendrix - "Are You Experienced?"
Dave Mason - "Certified Live"

as good as it gets.....my only problem with that disc is the piss poor quality of the recording.....I've listened to the remastered version but the quality is still pretty bad......can you imagine how good that disc would have been had they recorded it the 1960's?

Robert Johnson is my acoustic guitar hero.....he could do shit that nobody could do and nobody can do today....if you've ever seen pictures of him his fingers are disproportionately long.....they look like fucking octopus tentacles....it's no wonder he could form wild chords and put together progressions others cold only dream of.......

It would have been beyond amazing. And believe me, the sound quality, or lack thereof, did play a factor for me and I almost went with another artist. But dammit, Johnson was by far and away the preeminent and most astounding blues guitarist of his or any other time. His legend, his muse, whatever it was that gave him that incredible talent is what made me select him, despite the recordings quality. Those phenomenal songs and his playing ability just had to outweigh the albums poor sound. I will take his music over any other blues artist any day.

Without thinking too much:

Pink Floyd - Animals
LZ -- PhysGraf (doubles count as one, right?)
Metallica - Ride The Lightning
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Beatles - Abbey Road

Might have to substitutte Dr. Theopolis - Voice Of The Future in there somewhere.

Always seems to be overlooked. Love it.
Meddle is another great PF disc that's overlooked as well....most of their stuff was great.....I could easily substitute Dark Side for Machine Head

No, neither Animals or Dark Side are or have ever been "overlooked". They are both great.

However, I think Wish You Were Here gets overlooked. This song, especially.

How can Welcome to the Machine be overlooked? It has only been a Classic Rock FM mainstay for 40 years.

If I was trapped on a desert island with Sam's music selections, I'd fashion a crude shotgun out of bamboo, seaweed and coconut shells and blow my brains out.

Maybe it's just overlooked by the classic rock stations around here then. I don't think I've heard it on the radio in 30 years. About the only PF you ever hear is off The Wall (which is a great album unto itself btw), which is better than none at all I guess but I'd like to strangle the program directors who play such limited selections and play them so often you begin to hate them.

This is the song you play in the car with your son, when you want to teach him how to be a MAN.
