Saw this last night. It's the New Normal.

BTW, nice to see 60 Minutes finally get around to this as just about every media outlet in the nation has covered rising disability rates over the last year.

The money quote from the disability judge:

"Half the people that see this will be outraged; the other half will want to sign up."

^^^ That was pretty good. Too bad it gets buried in today's 24/7 media landscape, but 60 Min still has its fastball. Except when Lara Logan is doing fluff pieces on national security issues.

Local yokel station did an "undercover" piece this spring on something similar. They followed people with Handicapped tags and watched them for 48 hours. Then used the plate number to pull public info. Their big "find" was a guy who worked in tower cranes and had to climb 45 stories of stairs each day to "work" in the cab of this tower crane. Dude also was getting disability.

As the Senator said, this is only going to hurt those truly disabled.

I believe half the old folks here have those rear view mirror hanger tags so they can use the handicapped spots, and there are a lot of them (old folks and handicapped parking spots).
Saw something like these up in Canada.

Wait -- the government subsidized something, then there was more of it?

Big shocker, since that's what subsidies do.

Back when, they decided to subsidize poverty in the inner city... how'd that work out?

But since prior social subsidies worked so well, they recently decided to subsidize... obesity.

Pure freaking genius.

I'm sure you'll also be shocked that Tom Coburn has no intention of actually doing anything about... anything.

If judges are just accomplished lawyers how do we stop this cycle? They get dressed in the same locker room as far as I'm concerned. Maybe we should adjust the qualification to be a judge having never been a lawyer.

You know there used to be a stigma if you were on the public dole.
