Rob Parker find himself unemployed yet again...

This time for his comments on RGIII. Apparently, because RGIII doesn't want to be defined by his race and instead wants to be know for his achievements Parker takes issue.

This is the same guy who called out a QB who was at church and got tossed from all future pressers by the HC. He followed that up by criticizing another head coaches daughter.

Hopefully, someone else will hire him so we can see his next epic fail.

Rob Parker is an asshole, but this is just ESPN being their hypocritical selves. That segment was run by the PTB at ESPN and signed off on before he went on air. Then, Steven A. Smith hung him out to dry by saying that he wasn’t comfortable “with where things went.” Give me a break. This is the same guy that has no problem slipping the N bomb on air at least twice, but nothing happens to him.

It was a stupid segment, as is most of the content on ESPN, and a stupid opinion. If that was the basis for firing someone (or not renewing their contract :meds:), then Skip Bayless should have been out on his ass a long time ago.

Detroit is a cess pool of sports columnists. Aside from Wojo I can't think of a single one who's provided any more insight than I could get by sitting on my couch and watching The Price Is Right. All the public has to show for their access is a bunch of saccharine Mitch Albom books at the bottom of a Goodwill bargain bin. I hope Rob Parker and Drew Sharp forget to use the parking break the next time they're making out at the top of Lookout Hill and coast over the steep edge. (Was that homo smack, Lefty?)

Agree about the sports columnists around here. Wojo is legitimately funny as well as very objective. Foster, Sharp, and Parker are all hair pullers that have no real insight to add to the subject they decide to write about. Albom stopped being a sports reporter long ago. Michael Rosenberg is pretty good. I know he wasn’t really Detroit per se, but I thought Jim Carty was good when he was at the AA News. Now he’s a lawyer. Pat Caputo is excellent for unintentional humor, but that’s more so when he’s on air. The only guy I ever heard Marc Spindler talk circles around.

Rosenberg was palatable, sometimes even enjoyable. I don't really remember reading Carty much. Both tried the jump to investigative journalism by going after Michigan and dropped absolute BOMBSHELLS!!! If it weren't for them we wouldn't know that athletes take easier classes (Carty) and that Dickrod's teams stretched longer than probably no one else (Rosenberg). Albom is the absolute dick stopper, though. (Was that homo smack, Lefty?) Works out the simpleton plots he uses for his novels by writing about feel-good liberal politics but comes down from the mountain whenever something of note happens in Detroit-area sports to render the definitive account, most often by repeating the same catchphrase-as-paragraph at least 17 times. The only authority Parker and Sharp have in their writing is that they're black even though they're both whiter than my racist grandma, and all they use that experience for is to say anyone acting too black is hood and anyone acting too white just doesn't seem cornbread enough. There's nothing more uncomfortable than watching the Carlton's of the world turn on their street voice.

Carty was pissed that the Michigan Football beat was being done by a guy who openly looked at kiddie porn at work and tried to do something to make a name for himself by writing that expose(!) about UM athletics. When that fell flat, he tucked his tail, saw the future of print media and went to law school. But he was a good dude and a pretty good writer.

Charles Robinson did get his start at MSU (‘sup “The State News”) and he is a bright spot for Yahoo. That dude is starting to develop a Chris Hansen rep. If he shows up on your campus, just drop the zima and rope and submit to the NCAA penalties.

Eh, he went to Toledo, so can't really call that law school. (Ooohhh burrrrn, you know who you are.)

Didn't know about the kiddie porn beat. Who was that? Not that I'd remember since I didn't read the AA News much while I lived that way.

Jim Cnockart. All of a sudden, he "left" the AA News, bounced around, and I think was just arrested in either Montana or one of the Carolina's on kiddie porn charges.

Ah, I do remember him. Think he's the guy who gave Screwy his start in the business.
