Anybody Got a Weber Smoky Mountain Smoker?

Post by Carson »

I like my ECBrinkman but that Weber unit is bigger and has better air control.

Any thoughts?

I think you should google "ECB modifications."

You can deal with the air flow, but not the size.

I modified my ECB earlier this year.

It works OK but size does matter.

Twenty-six years old and still smokin', Carson. Hell, I've forgotten more good 'cue outta that ol' Weber than most people will ever smoke. Have never even had to replace the grill top. Best barbecue investment I ever made.

Found one at Lowe's and bought it on the 6-month-no-interest plan.

Looking forward to breaking it in this weekend.

What part of "no interest" do you fail to comprehend?

Saving money and keeping cash in my pocket makes me a tard?

You're a tard because you think that somehow borrowing money you have to pay back is akin to saving money and keeping cash in your pocket.

You do realize that you probably will have to pay interest from the purchse date at about 27% if you don't pay it off in six months? Since you show no grasp of the concept of finance, you will fuck up and end up paying hundreds more than you should have. The only time "no interest" works is if you have the money to pay for the item in full at the point of sale. Seeing how you are patting yourself on the back for keeping cash in your pocket while getting a smoker you don't need (you still have an ECB as stated in this thread), you probably didn't have the money to pay in full at the time, so you're risking the complete opposite of saving money just to have a little better air flow in your cooker.

If $300 is that big an ammount to you, why didn't you just save up for six months and buy it now. If you saved a couple nickels from when you started this thread, you would not be risking being another tard who falls for in store credit tricks.

If he waited for six months they might not have had the no interest sale on anymore. You have to jump on these things when you can.

I assume that was understood when he posted the terms of zero interest in six months.
Since you show no grasp of the concept of finance,
I guess I don't either. Please explain how paying $50 for six months is worse than paying $300 at the POS. Then explain how six of one is worse than half a dozen of another.

Pretty simple,

"No interest" typically means no payment of interest for the allotted time. That doesn't mean that there is no interest accruing. If Carson doesn't pay that bad boy off before the six months, the accrued interest is dumped onto the balance. He's running the risk of paying a lot more for what he deemed as saving money.

Because of the risk factor, you're better off saving up for low cost non-essentials like a better smoker than financing one under the guise of no interest. Most in store credit is viewed as a revenue stream, not just payment flexibility. Don't forget that.

I will have it paid off before six months. These smokers are rarely in stock around here so I grabbed one while they were. I get to use it now instead of waiting.

You seem to know a lot about not being able to pay off credit. Experienced?
