Android. Are you rockin' with it?

I'm rockin' pretty hard on my Motorola running Gingerbread...custom Cyanogen ROM and fully rooted.

I got an Android LG Optimus V phone, Marty, but I don't have any custom shit. Any suggestions? One thing I hate about it is that it rarely picks up the WiFi in my place.

Check out LauncherPro on the app market. It's an excellent screen customisation.

Thanks, bro. I have another question. My phone can never hold the WiFi signal. My iPod does fine. It seems to work right away up you turn the phone on and off, but only for a little bit. Then it just tries to connect over and over.

Is your wireless setting on your phone set to "Mixed Mode"?

WiFi sleep mode was when screen turned off. Fixed it.

Good call on LauncherPro. Noticeable improvement and I like the dock.

I've been happy with Android...less happy with Samsung's shitty overlay. My next phone will definitely be one of the straight-up Google variety.

Here's a rooting guide for the Epic 4G:

If you can get CyanogenMod 7 on your rooted Epic, it'll be like having a whole new phone:

...and no, Goober...you can't root and install custom firmware on two tin cans and a string, so eat a dick.

You probably haven't had "firmware" since the Eisenhower Administration.

Which Moto Phone? Rocking the DroidX and been thinking about going to cyanogenmod but waiting to see if they'll set the DroidX to Stable Mod anytime soon. I don't really want to keep updating the nightly mod to fix issues. I used to run other Mods on my HTC back in the day and even on my old MS phone but I haven't been to concerned about the phone as much since I got the Transformer Tablet. I'm waiting for Asus to release some Ice Cream for it. Supposed to come in the next several weeks, though I have been busy for a week or two so I haven't checked the latest rumors for it.

You could load custom ROM's in place of the stock "vanilla" ROM's that ship with your device (includes greater customisation and access to "hidden" features).
Also, some apps require root access (like Titanium Backup Pro...one of the best Android utility apps on the market).

I have the HTC EVO 4G. Seems there are a billion or so sites for rooting, any recommendations?

xdadevelopers is the grand-daddy of all Android rooting websites.

Here is one rooting guide:

Let me know if you need help with anything.
