Did you start up in "Safe Mode With Networking" and run your scans?

Did you try restoring to a previous date (for realz, but often doesn't work with trojans)?

AVG has been known to give false positives.

Also, you would be wise to make regular system backups to separate, removable media like an external hard drive.

Invest in an external HD and store your photos/docs/music on there so you don't run into this problem again.

You make me chuckle from time to time but I think my post was legit.

If he already had one why would he be scared to go to safe mode this time around? Isn't the idea behind having an external drive to keep from storing pics and media etc.. on the main HD in the first place?
