The best thing about this game is Chris Spielman's utter disgust at what he's watching.

Joe Tessidouche: "C'mon, aren't you going to give the offenses any of the credit?"

Spielman: "No, I'm not. I can't. These teams are setting back defense 450 years. This is Arena League football."

Joe Tessicardboard: "So, what do you think about them going for two here?"

Spielman: "What difference does it make?"

60-56!

Your turn, Washington. Two more TDs and these two will have the record.

This is like watching a slow pitch softball game.

Neither team plays any defense...none. Do these schools even waste money hiring defensive coordinators?

Why is Washington bothering to run the ball? It's not like sustaining a drive to keep their own defense off the field and rest up is working. They did that on the last drive, and still Baylor came right back and scored in about a minute.

Just throw the ball. They can't stop it.

Ah shit. Washington double-faulted. Never should've stopped throwing.

Dammit, that lineman's fumble is going to prevent the final TD we need here to break the record.

This game was almost...almost as pathetic as 9-6.

OK, just a pathetic as 9-6, but not more. Just really fucking pathetic.

This was way more pathetic than LSU-Bama. There, it was clear that we were seeing two NFL-ready defenses. In this game, not a chance. Washington was/is not a great offense. They only scored 21 against Stanford and 17 against Oregon and USC. Baylor just made Price look unstoppable. This was bad defense on a historic level.

Huh, both of those teams beat Texas and they for sure have an SEC defense. Hell Texas and their crap offense would finish no worse than third in the SEC East and prolly third or fourth in the West.

Agreed but we weren't talking about Bama or LSU. You asked about RGIII and Weeden.

I just was making the point that those guys would still put up numbers in the SEC, ie you would still know their names. now just imagine if either Bama or LSU had RGIII or Weeden at QB?

Without RGIII how many games does Baylor win? Two? Three? Not only was he the best player, but the most valuable. His playmaking ability is just off the charts.

Better question, Sammy: Would an SEC defense still be recognized as an SEC defense if it were matched up against the likes of a Weedon or Griffon? Outside of ‘bama or LSU, who in your (our) league could even compete with them?

All I know is that Iowa State held the high octane Oklahoma State offense to 24 points in regulation....and did it with a very, very average defense, so, yeah, I think the SEC defenses would fair pretty well against the likes of Baylor and OSU. And I think Stanford has a better defense than Iowa State.....and certainly a better offense. I'll take Stanford in that one.

Devil’s in the details, Mace. I’m of the thought Paul Rhoads’s game plan had as much to do with the ‘clones winnin’ that game as ISU’s defense did.

ISU rushed for almost 200 yards that night and held the ball for over 35 minutes. Five Cowboys turnovers and eight dropped balls didn’t hurt their cause much either.

Not sure how the number 97 rushing attack will fare against the nation’s 83rd ranked run defense, but I’d like to think ball control and time of possession will be the key to sending the Pokes home a loser. But if Oklahoma State can execute their game the same way they did against the Sooners, it’ll be a long night for the Tree...

Good point, 'del.

Where's the fun in watching two teams spin the numbers on a scoreboard when you can be treated to those epic field goal fests they like to play down south, or those riveting three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-punts exhibitions hosted in B1G stadiums up north? :meds:

I'll take a XII or Pac match-up for entertainment value any day.
