No wife smack coming from me today.

You just bought a terrible vehicle.

You know, you could upgrade pretty easily, considering the change you're pulling in. And I'm not referring to vehicles.

I see it didn't take long to jam the cup holder with her super sized (diet) coke.

Seriously,

I haven't met one person who bought any incarnation of a Jeep Wranger that didn't want to slit their fucking wrists three years later over the purchase. Even people who would use them for "off-roading" rather spend the money on rebuilding an old CJ-series type.

I've never seen a vehicle that is so impractical, so overpriced and have such a horrible track record for performance and reliability remain in production for so long. I guess bratty high school chicks and douchebags thinking they are kewl carries more weight than I thought.

no trough, just a nice wide old school bench seat. that way she'll be able to slide far enough over to close the door.

Dead fucking wrong, Jack. It's a 4-door SUV that is fully loaded sans wood grain and third row seating, but it's got everything else a Tahoe, H3, Expedition, Sequoia, and Armada has to offer. The four-door is a practical family vehicle and a lot cheaper than the vehicles mentioned above. Not only that, but this vehicle is also fun for going to the beach and taking the tops off. You can do a lot more mods at a much cheaper price b/c the after-market market is huge and competitive.

I won't delve into the details as to why we purchased a third vehicle, but her commute is 13 miles round trip, so I'm not really concerned about long term reliability as it will have very low mileage on it over the next 5 years. We've owned the F-150 for nearly five and a half years and it just hit 48000 on the odometer.

Try again, asshole.

My theory is to do all the scheduled fluid and oil changes with the same grade oil from day one. A vehicle can last forever if you do the scheduled maintenance. If other shit starts to break, well, that's what a warranty is for.

Thats always my theory too, change the oil/air filter often and dont thrash it and they should last forever.

The problem is, all these new vehicles have ticky tack shit that breaks that takes $1000 labor to fix a $50 part. That seems to be the difference between the reliable vehicles and the not so reliable vehicles, how much little shit goes wrong.

Fwiw, I like your Jeep.

These places? You mean... fast food joints? I can't make out the words, but 32 oz of any drink usually means a shitload of food was required to be washed down.

("Yeah.. I'll take the side salad AND the 32 oz Green Tea." Right.)

I think "the drink" is rendered irrelevant when you're inhaling 4,000 calories and 135g of fat worth of slop. Correct me if I am wrong.

the only thing dumber than buying a brand new jeep is buying a brand new jeep for the sole purpose of carting someone to a job 7 miles away and back. tell the OL to get a bike and ride it to work. Stay away from carbon fiber and aluminum though. I've heard good thinks about the surly long haul trucker when it comes to loaded up bicycles.

2nd. Especially in a place like Houston where winter is almost never a concern. Even if you bought a vehicle, why buy a brand new 4x4 SUV just to put 14 miles a day on it? Better to get something 4-5 years old if you're just going to putt-putt to and from work for the next 10 years.

So you've never bougt a shirt that you liked because it looked cool but wasn't practical? Lemme guess, your entire closet consists of blue jeans, tan shirts, and brown shoes?

I'm sorry, I thought I lived in America. Mrs. Rumps wanted a "fun" driving SUV. She wanted the Jeep, so I bought it for her. Why is it so difficult to comprehend that?

I'm sure she'll have lots of fun drinving it to the dealer for repairs. Sorry, dude. Jeeps suck. My wife had one when we first met and it was a total piece of crap.

It was more the point of buying brand new. You could have paid 20k less and gotten something that would do the same job with the same nameplate and "fun"factor had you spent a little time researching used vehicles. I can see buying brand new if you're going to rack up the miles, but for that kind of commute?

Not sure why anyone would buy a “Smart” car. They’re over-priced, don’t get really exceptional gas mileage, and if you were in one and got hit by that Jeep (assuming it wasn’t in the shop), you’d be dead.

I reasearched for weeks. Had a thick folder with every top of the line SUV out there and had them priced at four to five different dealerships. I was prepared to drop 50K on a "Platinum" full-size SUV. Trust me, I wanted used, but Mrs. Rumps wanted new. We compromised.

In Texas... a Platinum 2WD SUV goes for $54K, so I imagine you're pretty screwed. Rumplewife would be totally fucked by the Grassclippings.
