Though a long time Dodger hater I still have to give Duke credit for being one of the best all-round players and a classy competitor.
He was also a long time resident of the town I currently live in. He lent his name and presence to an annual High School home run derby for SoCal players every February, which raised money for the local Boys and Girls Clubs. He personally attended many of the HS baseball, football and basketball games here in Fallbrook, and the new baseball field was named after him about 15 years ago. The guy will be missed around here.
