If there is a food that is as good tasting, cheap and healthy, I don't know what it is.

I'm a big fan of the crap out of the box (zatarin's). As with anything, I'm sure a good homemade version is 1000X better. I am gonna give this one a shot. It sounds pretty good, especially the recommendation to serve it with good beer.

I'm sure jsc will have his own favorite as this stuff is it's own food group in the nawlins area. If anyone has there own favorite recipe, let's hear it.

Quite disturbing that the thought of horse cock immediately reminded you of me. Did you just get off the phone with your mom?

An American and a canadian are on a flight returning from Europe. To pass the time, the canadian suggests they play a game of 20 questions.

"Think of something, and I'll guess what it is within 20 questions," says the canadian.

The American decides he's going to think up something difficult, but not impossible for the canadian to get.

He comes up with "moose cock."

"You thought of it yet?" asks the upper mexican.

"Yup," replies the American

"OK, is it animal, vegetable, or mineral?" asks the canatuckian.

"Animal," the American responds.

"Well, can you eat it?" asks the canadian.

"I suppose if you really wanted to you could, sure," replies the American.

The canadian asks, "is it moose cock?"

BTW -- I've been trying to ride again. I used to do dozens of miles a day, daily... then I got a driver's license, which really cut into the daily milage.

But with my new-to-me GT Tequesta, I'm raring to go. I live near the big bike trail on the west side, and I think I'll have to start joining my buddy and his wife (who live near me) on their rides -- the Pub CrawlRide. They ride down to the trail, and hit the first McMennamins and grab a beer. Then through a park, and about 1.5 miles later, there's another McMennie's, and hence another brew. Or two. Then it's down the creek for a few miles, to Max's Brewpub (which is right down the street from me, and the beer ain't too bad), for the nightcaps (although the ride can be extended to another McMennamins -- I guess they have our area covered). Then, the "crawl" home. Sounds like a hoot to me. Staying on the trail and off the street (all of the aforementioned are pretty much adjacent to the trail), pretty much negates the chance of a cop doing something stupid like trying to issue a DUII for riding (which they can do, but rarely comes up).

And the cost of my "new" bike -- a friend's lawnmower broke, and he fucked up his ankle again (said friend is an enormous dude, and there was something about a couple of very large bouncers at a tittybar and a busted ankle, or some such shit)... so I gotta go mow his lawn.

Just call me Jose'... Jose' with a GT Tequesta.

Actually, I've used this very recipe before with some minor tweaks. Red beans for kidney beans and I don't really dig pickled onions or pickled pork for that matter.

Good chit, though.
