Geek toys while waiting for your kid to deliver?

So tonight is the night. We are going in and hopefully and in 2 days we'll be coming home with a healthy beautiful baby girl. The newest clan member of the taco family. What game system/games/geek toys did you take with you to the hospital the last time you went, really for anything. I think the hospital has wifi, which we can use. I'm thinking I'll have my laptop, ipod, phone and cameras so hopefully I'll have some stuff to kill a lot of hours. Thats probably what I dread the most. Sitting around waiting to for the baby to come and then sitting around waiting to go home.

Fairfax actually. I do have one. Just have to dig around a bit to find it.

You'll be playing video games while your wife is in labour?
Seriously?

Both my kids came out fairly quick but had the situation been different I would probably have just brought my Zune and some mags to read since my wife was asleep when she wasn't pushing out our kids. If you also have a MIL that is as much of a pain as mine is, I suggest noise-cancelling headphones too.

Dude, Labour could of been 30 + hours long. Can't just sit there and stare at the white walls. As it is, didn't have much to worry about. We went in to get induced. We stayed there the night, didn't get much sleep because the stupid detector had to be re-adjusted every 5 minutes. Then she got the drug in the morning, and while she was having contractions at every 2 minutes, nothing actually changed. At noon, they decided that we should have a c-section and at 1:34 on Aug 26, my daughter was born at 8lbs and 3oz.

(edit: Didn't read past Martyred's post. Congrats, ElTaco, to you and yours and your new arrival.)

Here I thought maybe ElTaco's kid worked for UPS or Fedex or sumptin.

Dude, no toys, whatsoever. You suck it up and get in that delivery room and take your medicine for knocking her up.

...what I'm talkin' 'bout.

Congrats, Taco.

There's no "killer iPhone app" that'll help with 4 AM diaper changes.

On the other hand, start 'em young. Start 'em on Debian.

Congrats, ET. Was this planned, or were you networking insecurely?

LoL. Not planned but it wasn't supposed to be insecure. Eh, oh well. Guess I gotta use Layered security next time.

Thanks, to everyone actually. This kid thing isn't so hard so far. Of course it helps that she stays home with the baby for now. A little reading, some practice and those 4am diapers are not so hard. Anyway, the baby is 3 month old now. The only problem is she isn't ready for an Xbox yet for xmas and I already received a PS3 this year so can't really ask for an xbox as well.

Oh well.
