Ah what a glorious time to be a hockey fan! Not a Leafs fan mind you but fans of any other team are rejoicing and gathering great lines of copious smack to launch at their hapless Leaf Fan friends.
You think you can re-build a team that been rebuilding for the last 6 seasons? Lots of luck Brian. Good thing you got rid of any stars the team may have had. This way there will be no one in the room with a head bigger than yours, both ego and otherwise. Seriously dude, your head, its fucking huge. Get that dome looked at, the kids are scared.
Leafs have nothing to deal and only 5 draft picks. They are going no where anytime soon and players around the league are beginning to recognise that playing in the great stink of TO is a one way ticket to obscurity.
Prediction: Brian steers the ship into another half assed season that no one will be able to blame him for. He basically has the rest of this season as well as next to pull anything together before any serious judgement comes his way from anyone that matters. That being said the Leafs will flounder in the basement of the East and once again miss the playoffs. Next season they may come a little closer and possibly squeak into 8th and an easy first round elimination.
The media will smell blood and begin sharpening their poking sticks. Expect some classic YouTube Burke footage in the next 2 years. Kevin Lowe wont be Burke's enemy one anymore, sports reporters will be.
Burky will have his ass tossed out by the beginning of 2011/2012 season.
As if I needed another reason to hate the Leafs.

You've now got two bombastic personalities in Toronto with Wilson and Burke...that should be an interesting marriage to follow.
Burke will build another smash and bang team in Toronto like he had in Anaheim and Vancouver. The team in Toronto now will probably go through a pretty significant overhaul and this team will take a beating and slide down the standings. They'll be one of the biggest sellers at the deadline I'm sure as they try to acquire young players and picks. I'm sure fans in Toronto would love to see the Leafs end up with John Tavares in the draft to be their new face of the franchise along with Luke Schenn.
I thought he was an overrated GM in Vancouver but he worked the cap well in Anaheim and hired the right coach and won a Stanley Cup. Of course, he later got into cap hell with the Ducks and ended up losing a guy like Penner to the offer sheet and had to clear room to get Selanne signed before the season and couldn't keep Bobby Ryan up with the big club because of the cap. He'll make aggressive moves in Toronto and build through the draft as well but it'll be interesting to see if he's smarter with the cap this time around.
