Depth in terms of talent, yes. In terms of heart, not so much so.

Kobe Bryant > Brandon Roy
Pau Gasol < LaMarcus Aldridge
Lamar Odom > Travis Outlaw
Andrew Bynum < Greg Oden
Derek Fisher > Steve Blake
Luke Walton <Rudy "Dwight Howard is my bitch" Fernandez
Vlade Radmanovic = Martell Webster
Sasha Vujacic < Channing Frye
Jordan Farmar < Jarryd Bayless
Trevor Ariza < Who?
Chris Mihm < Joe Pryzbilla

Sun Yue < Sergio Rodriguez

Bunch of other young studs competing for the last roster spots.

Just not seeing your point, Seer. Lakes have a big advantage in experience, without question, and they haver the #24/8 factor, for sure.

But in terms of top-to-bottom talent... Laker myopia at its finest.

You throw myopia in MY direction??????

Oden hasn't played a second and he's better than Bynum? Aldridge & Webster - why?
Bayless has played how much? Frye?

You're typin from your heart not your brain.

Dude... YOU rolled out the names Trevor Ariza, Chris Mihm (decent player whose last decent action was what... 10 years ago?), and Sun Yue as evidence of some superlative depth.

At this point, I can hit random keystrokes, and still run your spotted ass over the hill.

And yes, after a single quarter of preseason ball, it becomes extremely obvious that Gimpy McOden is much better than Gimpy McBynum... but I'd love for you to post something to the contrary, as it will make some laughably excellent sig material at a later date.

Although what a great time for those two to share the West spotlight. Too bad we're not in the same division anymore (although I suppose it's only a game every other year difference). 24/8 isn't going to have gas in the tank for too many more years (that early career start has put way too many miles on that body), but otherwise, both these teams are set up to whoop ass for a looooong time, and have the management and means to keep their players.

Yes, I know it's only been two games.....BUT.....The "Bench Mob" will be the best bench in the NBA. Each player on that bench knows what his role is and does not stray away from the team's philosophy. Farmar is steadily improving and showing great leadership skills. Ariza is on his way to becoming a defensive specialist and improved his offensive game in the off-season. If Odom had a better jumpy, he'd be the 6th man of the year. His game is solid though. Sasha V. can still shoot the lights out and is building reputation as a pest on defense. He may even pick a couple more fights before the season's over. Just hope he can dodge a punch because he does not look like he can take one, or throw one for that matter. Walton and Mihm aren't even in the rotation, but can fill in nicely if fouls are an issue. Don't see Josh Powell playing much, but if he does, he did average 5 and 5 last year. Not too much to ask for from the 12th guy in the rotation. Mbenga and Yue won't see much of the court unless there are injuries. Judging from the first two games, this bench doesn't let up and will bring it every night.

Starters-

Amare Stoudemire
Matt Barnes
Shaquille O'Neal
Raja Bell
Steve Nash

Second team-

Boris Diaw
Grant Hill
Robin Lopez
Leandro Barbosa
Goran Dragic

The Rest-

Sean Singletary
Alando Tucker
Louis Amundson

I'm fine with this bunch. Especially now that we have a coach that will play more than seven or eight of them.

The poison that is shaq will be offset by the contribution from Barnes....

Roster-wise, this group probably would give the Lakers the best challenge....Pass the geritol and full speed ahead....

The only thing poisonous about Shaq is seeing him on the free throw line.

This is a different squad with a different system, they may take a month or so to gel. But Shaq and Lopez both give them solid interior D, Dragic looks like he could be the PG of the future with some tutelage from Nash, and having a 7 time allstar, a former sixth man of the year and a former most improved player coming off of the bench doesn't suck.

That being said, Leandro and Raja need to step up their game or I see either or both being trade bait.
