The Return of Clutch City is on the Horizon

Post by RumpleForeskin »

Artest gets Houston a three headed monster juct like Boston, but probably better. Houston is a legit contender now. Everyone will be chasing them come November.

I laughed.

A yoked up Bynum will now be manning the 5, which will send Gasol to his natural position at the 4, and Scrotum will be at the 3.

In other words, the rest of the league is fucked for many, many years with the triple towers patrolling. Another 3peat is on the horizon for the Lake show.

Get used to seeing a ton of this, bitches:

Gee, a guy coming off leg injuries bulking up?

Be nice for the Lakes if they could hire a trainer/MD with an IQ over 60, eh?

Bynum will be Oden's Bitch... but you don't need to write that down, you'll be painfully reminded of that frequently.

GO = Wayyyy more talent than Bynum could ever dream of

LMA = More talent than Gaysol.

BRoy = Kobe without the tude/sexual assaults

Shut the fuck up, Biotches.

Shaq and Amare at center and PF for a whole year- you can't touch that.

And if Porter has the sense to start Diaw at small forward- there isn't a SF in the league who can match his size, outside shot and passing ability.

Then again, keep deluding yourselves. While you can.

Between the two of them they have a grand total of 2 "full years" out of the 23 seasons they've combined to play.

Together?

And as usual, you miss the bigger picture. Whenever they have put Boris in as a role player, that is what he does. When they have made him a focus of the offense, he's kicked ass. The season Amare was out. Most Improved Player. Then back to being a backup. When Grant Hill went down in the playoffs last year, he performed like a monster.

They (and by they, I mean Porter) need to make him a starter next season. He can dominate any small forward in the league IF he is made an intergral part of the offense.

And Grant coming off of the bench wouldn't suck. And with his injury history, would be advisable.

A dumbfuck would be the tool who believes that Boris Diaw could dominate Kobe or LeBron in any offense. Diaw averaged 28 minutes a game and 8.8 points. Kick his minutes up by 50% to 42, and that’s a whopping 13.2 ppg. Make him more a focal point of the offense and watch his shooting % drop.

Throw another BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! on the pile.

And look at his points per minutes when he wasn't coming off of the bench.

In case it (not suprisingly) went over your head, Diaw is a differant player coming in as a role player vs. being a go to guy. But props for pontig out that LeBron can score at will against anyone (Shoking news update).. And that TheRapist was a forward.

You all are sippin' the krazy koolaid.

Rockets defense was 4th in the league in team defense last year. Adding Artest as the shutdown defender on guys like Roy, Kobe, Manu, and others will allow Battier to guard the second scoring options around the perimeter and some undersized 4s. This will free up T-mac of his defensive responsibilities which means he can focus on the one thing he does best. Scoring.

I'm not saying Artest is going to shut those guys down, but he is one of the best defenders in the game and when you have him, Battier, and Yao on the same team, you can forget scoring 90 points. The Rockets will fucking pwn this season.

A) You people need to realize how big of dipshits you sound using "Clutch City." It's a flagrant ripoff of Rip City... flagrant.

Please stop.

B) Adding Artest to a team with Racing Stripes Battier is scary. Certainly two of the better lockdown guys in the league (could Battier be any more underrated?).

But... remind me again when the last time Artest made it through a season?

Will he show up to practice in a bathrobe?

Will he take time off to promote his platinum-selling gold-selling 600 copy selling hip-hop CD? (Dan Patrick bought one of the 600-btw.)

Will the guy who has never, EVER seen a shot he won't take, which is justified with his gaudy 42% career FG%, kill off the offense of much better offensive players? (His career playoff % is 38-btw... keep hoisting it, buddy!)

Huge, huge gamble Houston is taking. They needed something to get over the hump, but I don't think this was the right move.

But I believe Mr Roy is on record as saying there's two players that make him miserable to play against -- Artest (who seems to have The Savior's number so far), and Bowen.

But someone help me out here... remind me again when the last time Artest made it through a whole season without losing time to injury, suspension, or indifference?

Oh, that's right... it was "never." Not once in his career. Little bit of a red flag there, no?

While Rocketfan counting rings that don't exist is a tad lame, I will say this is a good move for Houston and for RA.

Neither Portland or the Rapers need to worry, because they're going to be irrelevant. But as far as the real teams in the west (S.A, Phoenix, N.O.)...

The guy adds another dimension to a team that was already pretty dangerous.

And Artest will have to be motivated, this is pretty much it for him.

How's that trolling working out for you?

That was a rhetorical question-btw.

Last time I checked... oh, say about 5 seconds ago, the Lakes were still the Western Conference Champ.

Last time I checked, they should have Bynum back. Where's their losses?

Last I checked, Portland is bringing LaMarcus and The B back, and adding what's reported to be a very scary Oden (which management is now saying "We think he's going to be better than even we though he was").

What did Phoenix add? Another year to Shaq and Gash's age? The Oh-So-DOMINANT Diaw featured on offense? Some surgery for Grant Hill?

The Suns are, frankly, in trouble. Way too many contracts of aging players. They could make some waves, but don't hold your breath.

SA -- Tack another year onto Duncan. He's right at that age where the big guys start losing a few steps. Oooooold team. Parker And Obi Wan better step it up.

No -- Whatever. We'll see. Could be in the early stages of something big, or could be a flash in the pan.

And Houston has some injury-prone mofos. They better knock on wood everyone stays healthy and happy.

The Lakers and Blazers are going to be the teams to beat in the next few years... including this next one.

Dins nailed it.

Houston has the injury bug to overcome, but at least one piece can go missing for a little time and there are enough in play to be a good team.

I still think Yao's injury was part of a secret handshake with the Chinese government. But that's just my Oliver Stone coming out of me.

Battier coming off the bench will help the second team a whole bunch. I hope Dorsey follows the footsteps of Chuck Hayes' work ethic and approach to the game. Its doubtful he will, but it would be the right medicine for him to develop his game.

Barnes has a motor, no doubt.

BTw-anyone else see the irony in a town with virtually no elevation chance calling themselves "Clutch City?"

Any tard engaging in such foolishness has obviously never driven a manual transmission vehicle in San Francisco or Seattle (or Portland).

God, would you shutup about the Clutch City thing? Who cares. It was the highest point in Houston sports history because the Rockets were so clutch during their second championship run. A 6th seed made that historical run.

Oh, sure NBA... go all Hollywood.

On Christmas Day, the Celts travel to LA.

More often that not, the Blazers play at LA on Christmas Day... where thery absolutely OWN the Lakers.

Matter of fact, the Blazers OWN Christmas Day, and are BY FAR the best Christmas team, despite all but two (1?) of those games being on the road. But their Christmas record is untouchable -- not even close. Always a nice Christmas present to watch the Blazers hand LA their ass in their own house.

But we do get Dallas at home on Christmas this year. They've been killing us the last few years.

Just out of curiosity -- what has Phoenix "done"... got their ass handed to them in the postseason for years on end? You know... that Phoenix team with the empty rafters?)

Interesting criteria for judging future success, though. I guess if we use your theory...

Uhm...

What have the Lakers "done"?

Won the West?

What did Phoenix "do"?

Get run in the first round?

And what have the flower girls done?

Pretty much nothing. But have I came out saying the Suns are going to destroy the west and conquer the NBA?

No. I just opine that they are going to be a better team than you expect. If T. Porter has all that Blazer genius still intact, he can turn this squad into something special.

I'm looking forward to next season. But not terribly worried about the Rapers. And definetely not concerned about the Roses.

The Spurs are still worrisome. And I'm thinking the Rockets are going to be a problem.

But I like the way my team is heading.

It might have been a closer game.

Lots and lots of ball left to play, but the Lakeshow looked damned good last night... damned good. Having your big buck in the middle owning some paint doesn't hurt... or so I'm told. Maybe I'll remember that feeling someday.

CLUTCH!

Nothing more "clutch" than leaving the guy that everyone in the freaking building knows is getting the ball open, not even making him come off a screen to do so, and letting him get an open look at a 3...

CLUTCH!

In Brandon Roy's 2+ year career, he's played 137 games, of which his team has won 75 (including a couplefew wins when BRoy was sitting out).

Of those 75 wins, Brandon has hit the game winning shot in 23 of them.
