I hit up BMG for the Buy 1 Get 3 Free sale, so I just got these on Friday...

CCR- Cosmo's Factory (had it already, but needed the remaster)
John Fogerty - The Blue Ridge Rangers (see my other thread)
Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News (finally broke down after hearing nothing but good things about it. good stuff)
Leadbelly - Take This Hammer (I got the Nirvana box set for Xmas and it inspired me to pick up some Leadbelly)

The fifth would probably be
Shapeshifters - The Shapeshifters Was Here (underground LA hip-hop. really unique beats. i've been digging it a lot lately)

I just discovered this band. Lovin' what I hear!

I have been listening to Handsome Boy Modeling School's album "White People" this week. Love the songs featuring Jack Johnson and Cat Power.

As far as individual MP3s go for the week, they vary from Snoop Dogg to Elton John to Deep Purple to Sigur Ros. I can never make up my mind what mood I'm in. :)

Am currently listening to Poison-Crack a Smile and More.

Earlier this week, gave spins to the new Facequake cd. Great stuff. Also tried giving another listen to Pretty Suicide last night. Still not doing it for me. No real shock there. Cranked Rattlesnake Remedy the other night. That one still does it for me. Also listened to Scritt Scrat's 'Psychotica' the other night. Pity these guys don't have better production as this thing's awesome and rivals their Lipstik Kiss'z release. Also cranked Dogtown Balladeers 'All Dressed Up in Dreams'. Incredible EP. Only two songs that weren't available on their full length but, oh are they good. Soooooooo good. Can't beat the boyz at their own game, gotta say. Incredible purchase on my part.
Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Robbie Robertson's first(?) solo CD, self-titled. Not a bad song on the whole thing, but I especially dig "Somewhere Down A Crazy River," "Sweet Fire of Love," "Fallen Angel," and "Broken Arrow" (which Rod Stewart freaking mangled in his remake...).

King Crimson's "Three of A Perfect Pair" has been cranking on the stereo also. My 5-year-old bounces off the walls when "Sleepless" comes on.

Been mostly hitting up the MP3s lately. I dunno if I'm just realizing what a hit metal just took with losing one of it's brilliant minds, but I've been on a Pantera kick lately(nothing really new there).

Looking back after-the-fact, just listening to the music, you can almost feel Phil's ego problems tearing the band apart. Fucker even tried to make Dime's death all about himself. Great talent, but he needs lithium therapy.

Great link, Fat Bones.

Holy crap, what a douchebag the spotlight turned Phil into. Went from a pioneer to a gravytrainer in about a 15 year stretch.

Ummmm.....if you're quoting freaking Cinderella lyrics, you might want to shut up. Dude looked like such a tool after his original self-propping "eulogy," he's now trying to run damage-control? Fucking pathetic. I've always enjoyed dude's work, both with Pantera and Down, but maybe he should retire, like he's threatening to do.

He's lamenting that they didn't get a chance at a reunion? Are you fucking serious? Every time Dime and Vinnie were asked about one, they said that Phil would actually have to return a phone call first, which he apparently hadn't done for many months. The Abbotts moved on.....and now Phil is bitching about it, and trying to rewrite history so he doesn't look like such an asshole? Unbelievable.

17 years together, and not so much as one iota of Darrell's class rubbed off on Phil.

Fuck him. The man is dead....let him rest in peace, dickhead. It's not about you.
