RICE hosts and gets screwed

I am glad that we are hosting, but I think we got screwed in having Texas there as the number two seed. Reminds me of a few years ago when FSU was the 2 national seed and had to host Texas.

Texas didn't earn any better a seed based on their overall performance this season. Even you admit that Rice laid an egg in the conference tourny. Seems pretty fair to me.

The real travesty of the tournament is the fact that Oklahoma got into it all...

I get a kick out of the NCAA. They say that they look at the last 10 games played as well as strength of schedule, conference tournament, and how much cash a regional can being to the table. With that, how is Texas playing Rice?

Yep, tough draw for the Owls.

It'd be sweet if Rice and Houston met in the Super Regional though.

No chance Rumple. Couger High is gonna get toasted in College Station. A&M just been doing the rope-a-dope the last 8 games or so. :waz: :brad:

Sig bet? That is if they meet in the Regional Final.

Suncoast. Few are hotter than Texas right now. As Harv pointed out the NCAA says they are looking at such things. Really?

Anyway. I would feel better if Texas was hosting and ATM was coming to Reckling.

I would not put a stipulation on if they meet or not. If one of them comes out of the regional, meet or not, it displays superiority because they would have beaten a common opponent at the very least.

So yeah, the sig bet is on if one of our teams comes out of the regional. Just gravy if they meet up.

Sure, sounds good. A&M pounded Houston @ Houston 13-6 in regular season. I'm expecting the same should we meet again.

Yeah, it would be sweet. Always great to beat Cougar High.

After y'alls sig bet I will take on the winner in the Super Regional if we get thru.

Same deal for a week.

FSU gets Florida in their regional.

Even though they took 2 of 3, still kinda sucks having ones main rival at a regional.

BTW, Buster Posey is a MAN!

Thank God for CSTV. Get to watch the game online with Dave South doing commentary. Nice.

A&M ties it up 2-2. Looks like Couger High decided to finally show up. Their ace is now tiring.

Ashamed to say, but I am watching the A&M baseball game online and the girls softball game on ESPN. My cousin played for A&M softball the past 4 years so I have been following this team a bit. No worries, I won't go Babs and call bode for a girls win.

Make that 3-2 A&M. Brain fart by 3rd baseman to load bases and another brain fart by 2B.

Couger high. sucksucksuck

Lefty, side note. What years did you play for rRice? My brother played for Couger High. Might have been about the same timeframe. I saw some Rice/Couger High games. Maybe I actually saw you play. My brother played in 1993-1994 before he transferred to A&M.

Couger High gets their little win. So be it. Gotta give props to Ray who threw about 120 pitches or so and gave up only 5 hits.

Tomorrow night it is. Rumps, get ready for your sig.

No chance at all. I just had a week vaycay in hawaii. I have a week coming up to Bahamas. I have a week in Vegas for work. I have to go to Thailand for a week for work. China a week for work. Tampa a week for work. Poland a week for work. And Mexicao a week for work.

All that being said, I have no time for travel for sports. Take that back...I may make the trek to Omaha. ;)

Rack the Coogs for hanging tough yesterday. After that 9th inning meltdown against Chicago-Illinois, I was certain the Coogs were going to blow it in extras.

Then, having to play a 4+ hour 11 inning marathon in the middle of the day in 90+ temps almost made it impossible for them to come back out and compete with the Aggs, especially after that 22-4 slaughter they were dealt on Saturday. Great fucking game by the Coogs pulling that game out and forcing a rubber game.

I just give props to Ray for going 9 innings and 121 pitches. Had it not been for the A&M slaughter the night before and the extra innings against UIC leaving Couger High with only 4-5 pitchers, he probably would not have stayedin that long. I think your coach was thinking that as long as he keeps A&M under 10, he was staying in the game.

Rice and t.u were in the same regional. A&M and Couger High were in the same regional.

Where the fuck do they get off calling these regionals? :meds:

Hint: College Baseball, like most college sports, loses money. First round of REGIONALS usually have a team or 3 within the same geographic REGION.

That being said...my sig for you is simple. Kinda like the We Are Marshall quote from the faggot teasip douchebag cokehead actor....

Your sig:

Can't disagree with the armpit of Texas blast, but if you have to spend time inside the Houston city limits, the Village isn't a bad place to do it.

Good luck Indy.

I'm from Lake Jackson, 60 miles south of the armpit. Call that the taint of Texas if you want. Wasn't a blast directed at you. I just don't miss the weather there. Pecans, abundant mesquite and fishing? Yes. Weather? No. Southern Indiana is heaven compared to Southeast Texas.

And don't wish me luck. We're at war for the next week. rice always has good pitching. Our one card we can play is our great hitting this year. We are ok on pitching, but we have won most by outscoring. I just hope we don't run into a buzzsaw of a performance by a couple of your pitchers.

They just could not get anyone out when there were two outs in the second. Oh well. They played good baseball and almost made it to the Super Regional. Props to a deece season.

I hope Rice kicks Ghey&M's ass.

Props Indy

I wasn't disagreeing on the armpit blast. Jobs dictate living here. Just waiting until we can maintain our lifestyle and live outside of Austin in the hill country.

As for the good luck that was more in the way of boxers touching gloves before the fight starts.

My grandparents have a lakehouse on Canyon Lake. Beautiful country. Definitely a nice place to retire to. My parents considered retiring to Lake Travis, but I don't see them leaving the grandkids in Lake Jackson as my brother and his wife live there too.

Love that golf course down there. Is it Columbia Lakes?

Anyways, I played in an HGA event down there my senior year and finished 2nd. It was the only 2nd place finish I turned in during my HGA days.

My mom and stepdad have a 13 acre spread off 290 about 22 miles pass Giddings heading toward Austin.

They've got a nice barn, pool, some 4 wheeler trails, and a nice clearing for the house. They have started the initial plans for the shell for the house to be built. Stepdad is 7 months away from retiring and wants the shell done so he can do all of the inside work himself. He is going to customize every room and really give it a 'Texas' look.

Its a great location. 1 hour from Lake Travis, 40 minutes to 6th street, 2 hours to Houston, Hour and 15 min to Canyon Lake, Hour to New Braunfels, Hour and a half to the Riverwalk. Its a perfect place to stay for free and then make your way out to whatever place you want to go for the day.

I actually see us out near Horseshoe Bay. Just from the simple fact the development has its own airport. That and it isn't as crowded as Canyon. We have a lot at Canyon, but we bought that from a bank when it was foreclosed on. We will prolly just hold it until we find something we like at Horseshoe Bay and then use the Canyon lot as a down payment.

I could also see us getting something out around Concan or Leakey on the Frio river. Problem is that is so much more removed from things like stores, entertainment, hospitals etc. Not that Uvalde doesn't have things, but it doesn't have what Austin or SA does.

Columbia Lakes is in West Columbia. That is the first place I ever hit a golf ball. We were members of Columbia Lake although it was a 20 minute drive from Lake Jackson. My mom took me out to the club to swim. I was 11. My dad was playing golf, and we saw him on a hole as we drove in. We stopped, it was a par 3. My dad said I could hit a ball so I teed it up from the lady tees which was about 120 from the hole over water. I knocked it 20 feet from the hole. Dad made me go to the green to putt and I two putted. Par on my first hole.

When were you in the HGA? I was in the HGA from 1988-1994, graduated HS in 94. I won 13 tourneys in the 6 years I played. [ ]Still got the trophies.[/  ] I played in the Tournament of Champions at the TPC at the Woodlands my Jr. and Sr. years on the tour. Sr. year shot 75-74 at the TPC which I was pretty happy about.

Lefty,

Any word on Canyon Lake and the possibility it would be used as a water source for San Antonio? We were down ther eabout 5 years ago and they had petitions about not wanting it in Canyon so we signed them. Just curious how all that panned out. Oh, and Canyon Lake beats ANY lake in and around Austin. While there isn't much around the lake worth a shit besides Braunsfels, that lake kicks ass.

That is awesome stuff, Indy. You probably traded shots with a friend of mine by the name of Phil Sinitiere. He was one of the better players on the HGA during your run. I was on the HGA from '92-'96. Didn't play a whole lot my first year, but played quite a bit after that. I didn't place until my final year.
