I'm interested to see what kind of strategum KC has in mind.
With extra picks acquired in the Allen deal they could try to move up to land Dorsey, C. Long or Gholston, seeing as how their D-line took a big hit by losing farmboy.

Or, by standing pat at #5, one of those guys might very well be there for them.
But I doubt that it'll be Dorsey or Long.
I'm thinking Gholston might be there.
Ellis will almost certainly be there too, if they chose to go that route.

Perhaps they see Ryan as too good a QB prospect to pass on, and they'll nab him, unless Atl does so first.
Hmmmmmm ......

I've got them taking Clady at #5, but I honestly think that might be too high for him to go.
But as poor as their O-line is, it would make some sense.

Chef fan?

The ONLY way the Chiefs stay at #5 is if G. Dorsey or Howie's Boy is still there....beyond that I see them trading down with the Saints or Ravens and stockpiling even more picks.

Like I said, I don't think the Cheifs are done dealing. If McFadden drops to 5, then they will trade out of the pick and get even more picks.

Bwahaha - I shoulda' known the duhs couldn't resist taking McFaggen. Can you say bust?

Thanks Al - We'll happily take Dorsey, though that definitely screwed my mock draft for the day.

Unless of course dorsery is the next Ryan Simms.

Yea, and how is That Turk pick from last year working out?

God I hate Peterson

Still - I can't think everyone who rated Dorsey the number 1 prospect can be that fucked up

McFaggen, bust? Damn Wags, I guess that's why you get the big bucks. You sir are a Smack Guru... mock off.

Dorsey at 5? Nice pick-up, Chief fan.

I think the Jets just got the best defensive guy in the draft.

RACK the NFL Network for streaming their draft coverage live. I couldn't believe ESPN actually had 3 hours of "pregame" coverage. I'm all drafted out...glad it's finally this weekend.

How'd that McFadden guy do in the Cotton Bowl when he faced a good defense? He got stuffed All Day Long.

Dorsey is no Ryan Sims. He's Chester McGlocklin in his prime and before he got fat. The Chiefs should feel like they just stole something, because no way did anybody see him dropping to 5th.

"STEALING when I should have been buying."

So I come in from the yardwork and find that KC somehow got the 15th pick...

Chiefs are getting over bigtime

Mendenhall is plummeting down the draft...could fall to Dallas at #22. If the Lions or Cardinals still want him...they could deal Williams or Boldin for that pick to get Mendenhall after passing on him.

No WR taken in Rd. 1?

Amazing.

If the Chiefs get Brandon Flowers here.........

They will still suck

And they DID....Chiefs are having BY FAR the best draft, and it isn't even close. DAMN I'm glad I was wrong with my mock draft of them.

Scott, your optimism overfloweth. Shit mang, even the most jaded Chiefs fan has to admit they've potentially had one of their best first days of the draft ever.

Now, to get those contracts signed and avoid any prolonged holdout's. That's what always bites them in the ass.

The Chiefs still deserve multiple Racks for their draft so far. It sucks that a Hokie has to play for a shit team; but, I suppose this the first real CB they have had in a while.

Jordy Nelson went ONE PICK after ours in the 2nd round to the Packers....A-Rodg just got another good WR to toss the rock to.

Tight End Fred Davis? What the fucking fuck? It is not like the defense would use some help. I remember why I hate draft day.

From what I've been able to read up on regarding the guys picked, I'm pretty pleased about the Bills getting McKelvin and Hardy.

I suppose Zorn was not impressed with Moss or Randel El as primary receivers.

As I imagined, Al wouldn't pass on McHighlight if he was there at #4.

KC made out by having Dorsey fall in their lap at #5 ... assist to Alvis.

Dorsey is no Sims, IMO.
Guy's a playah.

If you remember, Sims didn't sign until August, so he started out on the wrong foot. And then he started getting injuries, prolly due to getting such a late start. That's why it's so important to get Dorsey signed ASAP.

Glenn Dorsey already has a better attitude than R. Sims did when he was drafted....dude said on kcchiefs.com that he can't wait to get here and get started helping this team win again. The Notorious S.I.M.S. never said anything like that and never wanted to be here in the 1st place. FUCK him and his old man.

Translation: Dorsey can't wait to get here and collect a fat signing bonus... then maybe think about helping the team win.

But yeah, I like everything I've seen and heard from this cat.

The Notorious S.I.M.S. never said anything like that and never wanted to be here in the 1st place. FUCK him and his old man.
Agreed, and I'm not defending Sims. Just using that situation to stress the importance of getting Dorsey signed early so we don't go thru another similar fiasco. Carl needs to open up the fucking checkbook and get it done.

Wags - drinking the Peterson Kool aid on this too?

Sims was "sold" to Peterson by Bunting and told him...... excuse me while I stop laughing.... That it was Sims, not Julius Peppers who was the real star of that NC line. So again, rather than just admit he totally blew the eval we get the typical " If he was in camp, it might have been different" bullshit. So what about the next 4 years?

Typcial shit. Just like Siavii, and Turk (who now has lost his starting DE position before camp even starts - they're moving Boone to end) and Freeman and all the other sqaundered picks.

Yea, the Chefs lucked out blind squirrel style today, but they suck and will suck until they put a bullet into that wanna be Godfather.

And if you think any part of what KC pulled today was anything other than luck, go re-read the mock draft threads and see where we had those players going. Of course this draft also can't be judged for 3 years anyway.

So make sure and buy a Dorsey jersey and a foam finger, as I think Carl's Mercedes might be low on wiper fluid, and see who ranks as Top 5 prospects in 2009 since I figure our 3-13 record should get us another primo slot.

Scott's right, KC just plain lucked out.
No shame in it.
It is what it is.

Pretty sweet deal to have it go as such, assuming Dorsey plays like the real thang, which I think he will.

Pretty un-sweet deal to imagine what kind of D-Line you'd have right now if Carl hadn't pissed your best player away.

Ouch!

So for Jared Allen we ended up with:

Braden Albert - Could be an OL anchor either at guard or T
Brad Collam TE - Uhhh........ explain to me why we spend a 3rd on a blocking TE when Avril, the DE from Purdue is still available
Dajuan Morgan S - OK, I had him rated as a top 2 safety

First impression grade on the Allen trade: B-
Of course we can't really grade this for 2-3 years

The only time the Chiefs D Line will see the QB in 2008?

Agreed on the blocking TE, when are they going to pick a decent WR? That's definitely a position at need.
