This carnage will make Columbine pale in comparison.

Did douchebag and his sidekick enigmabag start the tour early?

That's tasteless, Wags - but rack you for getting to it first, and for being ever-vigilant like Cuda at a sack-nuzzling extravaganza

You mean just beaten. Beating them senseless would be the ultimate example of a 2x4 to a dead horse one could possibly imagine.

Besides, there were no pooka shells found on scene?

All joking aside, this is some pretty unreal and fucked up shit that went down. Almost like a military commando type raid... against innocent kids.

I can just imagine the sheer panic that parents of students at VA Tech must be feeling right now, wondering if it was their child who got caught up in this.

That's why we're joking about it.

I've got enough reality to deal with.

If all students were armed this wouldn't have happened.

Would have been nice if at least one of them besides the shooter was, eh? Might be 20 more students alive.

You're good with numbers too. Excellent!

Anyways . . .

I wouldn't have expected Beamer's school to give the gunman so much time to sit back and fire away. I would've thought they could've gotten more pressure on the shooter.

It looks like the perp is trying to escape by putting on a fake beard and a store-bought SWAT outfit.

Stupid fucking statement. Lead with sympathy for the victims, not a shout to NRA lobbyists.

A rampage like this has basically nothing to do with gun control.

Gun bill gets shot down by panel
HB 1572, which would have allowed handguns on college campuses, died in subcommittee.
By Greg Esposito
381-1675

A bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus died with nary a shot being fired in the General Assembly.

House Bill 1572 didn't get through the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety. It died Monday in the subcommittee stage, the first of several hurdles bills must overcome before becoming laws.

The bill was proposed by Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Shenandoah County, on behalf of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Gilbert was unavailable Monday and spokesman Gary Frink would not comment on the bill's defeat other than to say the issue was dead for this General Assembly session.

Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."

Del. Dave Nutter, R-Christiansburg, would not comment Monday because he was not part of the subcommittee that discussed the bill.

Most universities in Virginia require students and employees, other than police, to check their guns with police or campus security upon entering campus. The legislation was designed to prohibit public universities from making "rules or regulations limiting or abridging the ability of a student who possesses a valid concealed handgun permit ... from lawfully carrying a concealed handgun."

The legislation allowed for exceptions for participants in athletic events, storage of guns in residence halls and military training programs.

Last spring a Virginia Tech student was disciplined for bringing a handgun to class, despite having a concealed handgun permit. Some gun owners questioned the university's authority, while the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police came out against the presence of guns on campus.

In June, Tech's governing board approved a violence prevention policy reiterating its ban on students or employees carrying guns and prohibiting visitors from bringing them into campus facilities.

Good to see the right wing is already trying to score cheap political points.

Besides, the idea that having armed students/faculty members would have reduced the carnage presupposes that said armed students would have been able to clearly discern the difference between the psycho gunman and the armed students returning fire. You, nor anybody else can give that assurance. Pat Tillman out front should have told you that.

So, in this dreamland in which college students pack heat to protect themselves, are there any other types of gun-related incidents? I'm sure all scenarios in which college students find themselves, they're wise enough to deploy their firearms safely and with discretion.

The fact no one had similar firepower to dispense with the threat of a psychotic didn't have anything to do with it?

Ohhhhhkay.

Violent crime rates are lower in fairly direct inverse proportion to the number of citizens with concealed weapons permits. Rates of violent crimes in any community are in inverse proportion to percentage of homes with gun ownership.

But don't let that get in the way of a good liberal, anti-Bill Of Rights rant.
