A friend secured a pair of tickets to the RedSox/Yanks game on 9/15. I've never been to Yankee stadium so I'm thinking I lucked out for this to be my first game considering the magnitude the series will hold at that time of the year. I'm looking for suggestions on bars/restaurants/sights in the general area that are worth visiting/eating/drinking at. We're planning on taking Amtrack up from Philly so we'll be relying on public transporation to wherever we go.
Thanks.

Take the public transportation out of the Bronx as soon as the game is over. Nothing to see there......

I've been to Yankee Stadium a number of times to see the Red Sox play and it really is a pain to get out of there if you are going by car. And yes, the Bronx is not the best neighborhood.

Any other suggestions for bars/restaurants within a bus/subway ride of yankee stadium? I've heard Union Square is a pretty cool place to visit and its a short bus ride to the stadium.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No kidding.. Aug 3rd this game looked like it might be a playoff type atmosphere.. instead the yanks might as well play their bench.

Just take the 6 train into Manhattan after the game and get off anywhere close to 30th-40th Streets.

I assume you're trying to trick me into venturing into the tranny section of Manhattan?

If that were the case, i'd have told you to just follow the Yankee fans leaving the ballpark.
