You think he's finished and then the fucker starts out 3-0 with a 1.33 ERA.

Although shutting down the "mighty" Dodger offense isn't much of a chore. :x

By far the greatest unassuming pitcher ever.

Does Maddux still get the two feet outside calls? Haven't seen him pitch in awhile.

Maddux is old school. A student of the game. He's smarter than 99.9 % of hitters he faces. Rack him and his longevity.

I was just talking to my boy and continuing to be astonished that Atlanta only got one title. Maddux, Glavine, Shmotlz...still going strong.

Maddux always seemed to me to be one of those guys who can pitch well into his 40s because he's never relied on power. Just look at a guy like Kenny Rogers...not nearly as good as Maddux but can continue to pitch into his 40s being a soft-throwing lefty because he can locate and force batters to get themselves out. RACK Mad Dog!

...uh you must be thingking of Steve Glavine. Maddux's circle change starts out 2 feet outside, but ends up painting the black as the bewildered hitter scratches his ass.

BTW.. Maddux is now 5-0 after shutting down the Brewers today..bwahahaha

definitely a pitcher as opposed to a thrower. rack him and yes, how the hell do the braves not have 4 or 5 titles with the staff they had?

That's an interesting question, to which we'll never know the answer.
Somehow, opposing teams in the playoffs were able to find the weak links in the Braves' armor,
or Atlanta players made uncharacteristic or simply foolish mistakes.

Case in point: Charlie Leibrandt, aging lefty, gives up the game winning HR to Puckett
in Game 6 of the '91 Series.

"And we'll see you... TOMORROW NIGHT!" - Jack Buck

Case #2- Otis Nixon making the final out of the '92 Series vs. Toronto
by trying to bunt his way on base with two out. :meds:

Case #3- Braves lose Game 5 of the '96 Series to the Yankees, as Andy Pettitte outduels John Smoltz
in a 1-0 game, decided by an unearned run.

Case #4- Braves' pitching staff suffers a collective set of brain-farts as Atlanta meekly goes down
in four straight to NY.
Chad Curtis, not known as a power hitter, hits 2 HR's including the winner, in Game 3 of the '99 Series.

...and that's not including earlier-round playoff flops! :P
