Russian ref is doing his best to give the game to the Swiss. Fuck him. A clear goal from Nash goes into Gerber's glove and into the goal. Fucking Russian sits on the damn phone for 10 minutes for the goal review then he calls no goal.
I love seeing an upset, but not when the ref is giving an unfair advantage to another team.

There has been poor offciating but I thought it was a good call on the no goal. .

The side view you can see the puck through the netting. The World Cup tourney was so much better than this...NHL refs, rules and rinks!

Sorry but I have enjoyed watching this more than I have enjoyed watching hockey in years. How often do you see me post in this forum? :D
This might...
might bring back into watching the NHL. Doubtful but maybe. Right now I jst enjoy watching college sports too much. Proffesional sports has just irked me for awhile now.

Good point SCS, glad to see you posting in here. There are lots of good college teams that are shown on CSTV, ESPNU and the regional networks.

I didn't see the puck in the net. Not clearly...and no one else did.
Bertuzzi is losing this game. His stupid penalties.. being in the crease and having a goal disallowed.. He flatout sucks.
What a disgrace.

Gerber is having the game of his life! The Schmucks should have never got rid of him.
Another BS IIHF rule...minor for check from behind gets a 10 min misconduct on Lecavlier?

I am planning om switching to Direct TV in the next couple of months but right now I am in a townhome and it's smaller than shit with all this crap. My floor isn't even started at the house but the roof is finished. :(
I'll just deal with cable for right now but if we aren't back in our home by football season I am going to have to bring it in here. last season was just killing me the weekends I was in town.
Fuck ESPN and Fuck the cable companies for having these pissing contests and letting it all drizzle down on us.

Where are all of the Canuck loudmouths?
They're not so loud right now. Get in here and explain the disgrace that is the Canadian Olympic team.

Canadian here.
I missed the game, I really didn't think it would be worth watching. Guess I was wrong. I don't have much to say, just thougt that I'd show up to scar away the Crickets.
Can't say that I'm really worried.

I watched it, and it was freakin' early after a night of drinking... but what's to worry about? Bertuzzi played like the chump that he is and we ran into a hot goalie. Canada lost a meaningless game. Nothing more to say, really!
BTW, it was the right call to disallow that goal. No definitive proof = no goal. It is the same as the Gelinas non-goal in Game 6. Nobody can say it wasn't in, but nobody can prove that it was either.

Goonie on the ice:
That nutjob has always been a selfish player, and should not be there.
His jersey should be hung from the rafters with him in it.
I said it before, and i'll say it again; I hope my Team Canada suffers great humiliation for allowing that piece of shit the privledge of playing for Canada...Him being there is a slap in the face to every Canadian who still believes in fare play.
War Justice Prevailing.

I said earlier that I didn't think Bertuzzi should go and after watching most of that game I stand by it. The officiating sucked true enough but not so much for either team. Canada got outplayed plain and simple. If the refs are being tight asses then you adapt and change your game. Pros should be able to do that. I didn't see any of the disallowed goals so no comment there but the TV commentary seemed to agree with the judges.
Gerber was hot and the traffic we had in front of the net was brutal. Too much Bertuzzi and not enough Smyth.
Quinn will be done shortly....both as Leafs coach and most definitely as an Olympic one.
Looking forward to seeing some interesting line changes.
Not worried either.

Canada always needs an early, meaningless round robin upset to get going. No trouble here.

Nash and Canada got jammed on that the goal call but that would've only made it 2-1. I didn't think it was possible for someone to top Aebischer's performance on Thursday but Gerber was flat out awesome. Canada had plenty of opportunities to score. The badly outshot them in the third and got several power plays...credit the Swiss for holding them off. Great upset. I'm already predicting the Swiss upset someone in the tournament round...they've definitely got the goaltending to do it.

Fins - 2
Goons - 0
BertUday stunk up the place like a Vancouver smog.
Canada lost that game because of him.
Thank You Jesus. :)
The Fins played great.
The Finish Flash was terrific.
I miss The Jets. :(

No way you can blame the ref. Canada had numerous PP's and even a 5 on 3 in the first part of the game and couldn't capitalize. When a team has 10 PP's and doesn't score it is hardly the fault of the ref.

I'm going with JD on this. In '02, Canadians came out flat but ramped up their game eventually. All you have to do is get to the medal round. Of course, the looming specter of '98 could repeat. Put Turco in goal now!!

On the other hand, the Canadians came out flat against a really good Swedish team in '02, while this time they've lost to a team that wasn't supposed to beat anyone but Italy.
If Canada doesn't at least score against the Czechs tomorrow, I think a lot of panic buttons will be pushed around these parts.
I'm really unimpressed with the play of Bertuzzi, Pronger, and Thornton. Other than those chumps, I'm pretty sure Canada can still turn it around.

Panic....how about doing the inevitable and firing Gretz as GM and Quinn as coach.

If you're referring to my post, I think the game after the Czechs tomorrow would be a bit premature to start firing people.
If Canada does flop in the medal rounds, Gretzky is probably safe, but I doubt Quinn will be able to save his position. They couldn't very well not bring back the gold-medal-winning coach from 2002 for these Olympics... otherwise, I'm not sure Quinn would have been given that spot anyway.
