I use Zonealarm pro, and it has settable options so I can either see what it blocks incoming or else it will just block all attempts incoming unless they are related to an outgoing program, and I have it set to always ask whenever a new non-approved programs tries to access the internet from the computer.

It works great. I use it on all my machines and I have had no trouble since I started.

It seems to be primarily devloped for P2P protection, but it also blocks many other problem sites...with easy and temporary unblocks as necessary.

HBO seems to like to ping and Media Sentry likes to attempt scans... :meds:
I get hits from Chinese govt sites way too much as well.
PeerGuardian2 is a keeper.
