You should give it a try. But I suppose that, too, might kick the peg leg you have to stand on out from under you.

Get back to me when you're ready to produce a semi-coherent take. TIA.
What's not coherent about the fact that genetic abnormalities are a small factor in relation to the obesity numbers out there? Lack of self control and lifestyle (both concious choices) are the real problems.

Classic.

His was a great deal more thought-out than yours, but it boils down to what this topic is really about -- some people just have a grossly over-inflated sense of self, and think everybody else should strive to be just like them.

The whole "I'm right, you're wrong" mentality.

For myself, I'm really into the whole "live and let live" philosophy, and rarely see the need to try and tell other people what they can and can't do, unless that activity constitutes a hazard to others, which smoking does not. And when I'm of a mood to gripe about the activities of other people's affect on my pocketbook, smoking is so far down the list, it doesn't even merit a mention. The greed of oil companies, politicians, and pharmecutical companies cost me many, many, many times more than smokers could ever do. As do elected leaders who ignore the illegal immigration problem.

Lots and lots and lots of things we can all complain about costing us money as taxpayers and members of the American economy. I guess if ranting about smokers is your gig, than more power to you -- use that right to Free Speech, brothers and sisters...but, when you think you are in a position to dictate the behavior of others, then you've crossed the line.

Wow. Up until this point, I never realized what an absolutely FLAMING LIBERAL Jimmy Meds was. First time I've ever seen him post in support of socialism.

Actually crappy Doctors who don't do their job correctly are the ones driving up the cost of your healthcare. It's called malpractice insurance costs........
Wrong answer. Cancer and heart disease caused by inhaling tobacco embers is a major cause of healthcare costs.

But go ahead, say what you want to believe.
Funny I don't see that listed here....

Funny how also as a smoker I have never inhaled an "ember".......

I agree Dins. It's all about the personal choice of someone to participate in a lawful activity. Certain restrictions should apply, just as with the use of alcohol but as an American for less government who cherishes personal freedom I despise the PC whorism and fanatical hordes out there who have foregone common sense at the expense of their own liberty.

Feel the same about fat fucks getting their gullets stapled at 20K a pop? How about the obesity related diabetes unsulin and medications that our insurance plans have to absorb?

I don't partake in the mounds of krispy kremes and ho ho's they enjoy, yet I get jacked up premiums from their health problems?

Or were you just expressing your mob mentality against smoking sans the fact that obesity costs you more every year by a factor of a ten?
For those who are obese because they choose to be lazy pieces of shit: yes. For those with a legit genetic problem: no. Please tell me you're not too stupid to see the difference.

Too bad you can't enjoy March Madness due to only liking college football, due to your school of choice sucking in said sport...maybe causing you some grief after all; and maybe in the throes of your depression you will start smoking; and your attitude on where to exhale may alter.....

Exactly.

Funny how certain legislation/ordinances taking away civil liberties is just fine and dandy by some -- just as long as they personally aren't affected by such encroachment or who think it's a good idea because it will "make" everybody else just like me.

Second hand smoke has been well-documented as a health hazard, dumbfuck. Moreover, it's an economic infringement upon responsible people like Jimmy Medalions who have never smoked. I don't care if people want to kill themselves; in your case I'd encourage it. I just don't want to pay for it.

Sorry dumbfuck, but by virtue of our country's government structure I do have a say in the behavior of others. Smoking. Drugs. Crimes. Big picture thinking really isn't something you grasp, is it.

Yes, you are a dumbfuck.

Smoking makes humans addicted to promoting their own demise while indirectly polluting others who are powerless to prevent themselves from being exposed to it (particularly kids).

Perhaps the worst part in all of this is, the smoker is totally oblivious to the non-smoker's gripe, all because they don't even respect their own health enough to appreciate the health preferences of somebody else. It is this ignorance (or better yet, stubbornness or lack of self-worth) that makes a smoker impossible to reason with on this issue.

If a smoker is allowed to pollute my air, a public good that all people can use to survive off of, is it okay for me to piss in his or her drinking water?

So you're saying that there aren't any republican smokers out there? Whatever.

When was the last time anyone was FORCED to be around second hand smoke? Last time I checked, this was a free country. Don't like a smokey bar? Don't go there. Don't like bartending at that smokey bar? Find another job. Somebody smoking a cig near you outdoors? Ask them to move, put it out or walk your ass somewhere else. Too many pussies out there scared to even try that last one.

Try to get back to my topic of the thread. If its so fucking bad for everyone then why not ban it? You're going to eventually force all smoker to be confined to their own houses if they want to light up and that, I'm sure, is in the best interest of their young children. :meds:

We're all waiting for your thoughts on knowing you will be sucking toxins and carcinogens from auto and factory emissions as you dance around the occasional outdoor smoker you run into. Ban the auto you say?

Good point, society doesn't need any transportation. That has no societal value, unlike when a person indulges themselves at the expense of their own health and others'.

That's ironic considering that here in NY, it is Republicans and registered Conservatives who have been most opposed to anti-smoking laws.

Just as long as you come to terms with you will be slowly dieing from the activities of others. Your an unwilling victim.....societal value be damned. Wasn't that your point on second hand smoke?

And there is societal value in smoking. Think of all that tax money you save thanks to people addicted to that lawful vice. You should get off their backs and send them a thank you card.

No, he's not wrong, meds. Not when it comes to smoking OUTSIDE, which is what this thread was originally about, via the morality crusade of the Left, of said town in Kalifornia.

And unless you're going to include my eating pizza, or red meat or being a fucking 400-lb slob who needs heart surgery every other year ... sorry ... you can't include anyone into your "I don't like paying for other people's bad habbits" pathetic argument.

What's next? You don't like paying for my "health" because I sniff my gf's dirty panties before I do the laundry and there might be infectious microbes around?

You may notice that I didn't bring up either of the traditional two party labels in the first post of this thread because the anti-smoking Nazis are not limited to one side of the political spectrum. Republicans tend to be against the restrictive laws but look at our resident preppie Jimmah's outlook on this topic.

Hey, Officer! Stop interrogating that poor assault suspect. I don't care about that other guy's convulsions! There was another guy, just now, smoking in public! Don't you SEE I have my kids with me? Arrest him!!

Yes, it's true, though very difficult to believe.

Btw, tards -- most of you do realize that this fucking country was pretty much founded on tobacco, right? And just a side note, as I go smoke another pack -- before next post -- I'll be blowing smoke around some children I see, just so I can get them to think it's cool and become addicted.

I just wanted to add that Christopher Reeve's wife recently died of lung cancer....having never smoke a cigarette in her life.

I bet she got a 3 second whiff of second-hand smoke back in '79. The smog she ingested living in Cali was mostly therapeutic, I'm sure.

Yep. Something like 20 percent of women die of lung cancer, without even having smoked a cig.

Fuck it. Let's just ban going out without a space suit -- that way they can just go ahead and smoke their cigs and fart and burp and breathe and stuff, and I won't have to deal with it.

All in?

Aye.

Silver Spoon & I on the same page? Just because we hate smoking doesn't mean that we're on the same page.

Jimmy wants to eliminate smoking because he thinks it drives up the cost of health care. While he's right on that point, he's wrong to isolate that as the only behavior to raise health care costs. Others here have done a fine job of pointing out other habits that do the same (although usually the ones pointing their finger at overweight people as all being over-eaters are people with high metabolism rates  ).

My contention is that smoking is a habit that effects more than the person who engages in that filthy addiction. To paraphrase someone earlier, they can consider cigarettes to be as bad as Big Macs when scientists discover "second-hand diabetes."

Pretty safe bet that Mrs. Meds is pushing 3 bills. But hey, it’s genetic.

I doubt I will waste one more second of my life caring about smokers and their "rights".

It's cool, I don't care about SYNW's right to free speech, due process, or any of that stuff, so we're good.
