As many times as it's been discussed on these boards, I didn't think I needed to clarify it again. Yes, NDHS in Sherman Oaks which, the last I checked, was and still is a Catholic school.

Rack your parents or legal guardians, then, for trying to give you the best education available. That experience certainly didn't hurt your development.

Believe it or not, it was entirely my doing, not theirs. Well, okay, they did pay for it.

My two brothers went to public schools. I wanted the better education and much stronger baseball program offered at Notre Dame. I didn't give two shits about the religious component, and neither did the school. Sure, I had to attend the classes and sit through the various rites, but no one there ever tried to convert me.

There was no religious context to the sack of Constantinople. It was not sanctioned by the Roman Catholic Church. Constantinople was ripe for the picking. It was in a state of political turmoil and the Venetians certainly hadn't forgotten about the Massacre of the Latins some twenty years earlier. 60,000 Italians from Venice, Genoa and Pisa were ethnically cleansed from Constantinople in a populist uprising. The massacre was indiscriminate and thousands of men, women and children were massacred. Thousands more were forced to flee for their lives. The stage was set for the Venetians to get some payback for that and recoup some of their losses in putting together that enormous fleet.

The point is exactly that. There are a ton of kids locally that attended Catholic grade and middle schools, and with a high quality of education, they kick n back for 4 years of public high school at 3.75 or better. Easily.

My grand kids are going to start Catholic school next fall. Of 2 sets of parents, 1 in each set is Catholic. None were married in the church, and not really practicing. But the education quality is excellent and worth every penny, considering the sorry state of public education these days.

And a history buff like yourself probably knows that virtually everything we know about the Middle Ages is due to the Roman Catholic Church.

No great fan of the Catholic Church or any of the other organized fairy tale systems, but, they do get credit for one huge accomplishment. Their very existence meant we weren't afflicted with Islam which most surely would have filled the faith vacuum. Not like they didn't try anyway and unfortunately had pretty decent success in non-catholic areas.

That's not the point, idiot. The point is that they have been paying the freight for eight fucking years and they'd rather send them "free of charge" to the suburban public high school they live in that's academically on par, or better, than the catholic high schools in reach.

It's a fallacy that all catholic high schools are these academically superior institutions to their public school brethren. Sure, they'll be able to kick back and get a 3.75 or better if they go to an inner city school system like, say, KCMO public schools or DCPS or whatever struggling inner-city system we're talking about.

I have to use my experience in Grand Rapids for background. The local catholic high schools were good academic schools, but they weren't any better academically than many of the suburban public high schools. The advantage the parochial schools have over the public ones is they don't have to admit the shitheads, the losers, the criminals and the overall pieces of shit who are going ruin the academic environment for others.
