If you ask my opinion (which nobody did. Come to think of it... no one ever does, so fuck you)...
If your team is a perennial doormat, who suddenly busts off an amazing run against all odds...
Enjoy your moment and run your mouth as fast as you possibly can, while it lasts.
It would be one thing for a team like say, UCLA or UDub or Bama... a team that's had occasional success over the years to return from mediocrity, and then all of a sudden all of their "longtime fans" came out of the woodwork and started jawing off...
But a team like Kansas or Vandy or someone, or even upstsrts like Boise or USF?
Enjoy it. Talk trash. Insult fans of other teams. Get full freaking value out of your once-every-few-decades run.

Is there a hook you won't wrap your lips around?
But to the matter at hand...
I don't hear Army Fan running their jaw. I don't hear Princeton Fan talking about their greatness.
Why?
Because their time came and went a looong time ago.
And so did Bama's, my friend. Keep paddling down that river in Egypt all you like, but don't try to sell delusion as fact, m'kay?
Why yes, Sam, I did mention Bama and UDub in the same line. And I'll let you in on a little bit of super-secret inside information that only the super-coolest of CFB fans know about...
Bama's last championship was only one year more recent than UDub's.
I hate to be the Harbinger of Reality and all, but sometimes you SEC BSHs worry me a little bit.
OK Sam, I hate to do this, but I'm going to come right out and say it...
Bama ain't a powerhouse no'more. Haven't been for a long time.
Now, don't get me wrong -- I'm not suggesting that you stop rooting for them, nor am I suggesting that my team is better. What I'm suggesting is that you quit acting like some member of the CFB Illuminati because you root for Bama.

the theory that MU has never had decent football teams is a farce.
they were continually in the top 10 to finish the season in the 60's. Lets add that they played against some fucking buzz saws in Wilkersons Sooners and NU's good teams. Devine was a great coach.
they had some solid years in late 40's and some in 50's.
winslow/bradley(sup mariner fans)/gray teams were good.
problem was, it started to flounder and Noone gave a fuck. Piss poor coaching hires(woody woodenhoffer) and noone giving a shit if they lost or won weekly, put it in the shit shape it was. They couldnt get any of the state kids to stay who had talent. KC and STL coaches wanting to be fellated or kids go elsewhere crippled it for decades. It Started to change when they brought in Larry Smith, he started to get some of the MO kids to go to MU, sure they lost some of STL kids to Illinois and some to Nebraska, but he got many of them to stay. Pinkel came in tried to run it like a hard ass, and it blew up. He finally changed, took blame, rather than blame the kids like he did week after week on Mizzou show on fox midwest, and the kids have finally come together as a team. They have floundered yearly as coaching and playcalling was suspect to say the least, if you complained, you were a cancer, u were to blame for finishing 2-4 to end the season. Gary has grown up, and so has this team.
I picked 10-2 before season, the schedule set up for a big season(losses to OU and @ KST), i'll enjoy this season as it plays out, seems like that special season ,we'll see, it is the Show Me State.
And Now, the Top kids in state are looking at MU, they are actually on top of lists, where before, it was a pity visit. This weekend could be big in recruiting, 5 star gabbert, 4 star compton, and a couple more Nebraska orals decommiting to Missouri. the 5 and 4 star are MO kids. Wether they turn out to be good or not, doesnt matter, it gives MU that image to kids in state to stay at home. If 5 Star Gabbert commited, maybe MU is becoming a wining program. It plants a seed.
Lets also add, you have fucking tards in the stl area, who tell the bruthas not to go to MU, they sway them to Big10 schools. Franklin stated that everyone he talked too in stl area told him not to go there, no way, dont go to MU. Nice that one of the biggest cities feeding the programs has idiots telling the kids to not go, some made up stories of Klan meetings in CoMo. And other teams used this to their advantage come recruiting time. I was a huge anti-Pinkel guy, but it seems he might have his shit in order, still several games to go, but definatley an enjoyable one, and something to build on.
You cant spell c*cksucker, without KU

There's some truth to this, but it has much more to do with preseason rankings than favoritism.
If an undeafeted team doesn't go to the MNC, it's because A) said team is not in a BCS conference or B) said team started the year ranked too low, or not ranked at all. I'm guessing KU started the year ranked 1,578 or something. Far too high of a mountain to climb in a relatively short amount of time. In contrast, OSU started #11. So...guess which team you think will climb that mountain faster?
If the human polls didn't come out so early, that would very much help eliminate this problem.

Their weakass, homerific OOC schedule made that mountain even harder to climb. Bill fucking Snyder blushed when he saw that schedule.

It's more of a "benefit of the doubt" factor than favoritism. Since you really don't know who's going to do what, it's a helluva lot easier to "take a chance" at Ohio St than say...Kansas. Some teams are pretty much a sure bet to at least compete and be there at the end of the season. So if that's your definition of "favoritism," then ya, I guess that goes on.
Yeah, yeah, I know, rankings are moreso about "forecasting." Still, nobody "forecasted" KU to do anything other than act the barnacle of the Big 12 North. I could be wrong about that though. I don't follow Big 12 football much beyond this board, and when the occasional game is on the tube.
This "favoritism" usually goes hand in hand with winning. It's sort of one of the perks, and one that even KU would get if they keep this up for a few years.
The SEC, of course, is a whole 'nother beast. Every SEC team ever ranked in the top 25 deserved to be there. Personally, I believe a 5-loss SEC team with wins over Vandy, Ole Miss, Miss St, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Wofford, and Fla International is just as good as any 1 loss or undefeated team from the Big Ten, Pac 10, Big 12, Big East, or ACC.

I don't know how that is relavant considering I was no A&M hoops bandwagon fan. I was posting in the CBB forum back to the SC III days. Mook's been around these boards for how long? His first post in the CFB forum was Nov 7, 2007. Every school has their front running bandwagon fans. But I won't consider myself to be a bandwagoner, since Oregon hasn't fielded a baseball team in a coon's age. But someone needs to put the Beavers in their place, since Stanford and the other traditional PAC9 baseball teams ain't doing it.

If you were an Okie State guy, I'd point out that if U of O had wrestling, Rabdy Couture might not have ended up at OK State... but you're OU Guy, and probably don't care.
OK, maybe not -- it's been a long time, but I seem to remember Randy's brother(s) wrassling at Oregon State.
The PAC10 becomes a strange conference for wrestling. UC Davis stands in for Oregon, if'n I'm not mistaken. I think there's some other funky schools that stand in for the non-wrestling schools.
As far as Duck Baseball -- they won't suck for long. If they do, they'll just throw more money at the problem. Could be a big problem for Oregon State, though -- since their last two championships have been with rosters that aren't just Oregon kids, but Willamette Valley kids, and they have their pick of them. But njow, there's competition, and I'm not sure either of the teams are going to be able to stick to local recruiting, since the talent pool is now divided by two. But, it's U of O -- they'll just go swoop up the best of the california JuCos.

No program in all of college football was as bad as KSU when Snyder took over. Of course he also had one hell of a group of assistant coaches as well.

We agree.
Sin,
Not One Single Person Whose Opinion Matters
Of all the contenders, Mizzou is sitting behind every last one of them in the Sagrins, and it's doubtful that wins over KU and OU would have them leapfrogging into one of the top two spots, and rightfully so.
Some people don't grasp the "body of work" concept.
Sorry, but you start competing for a Championship about 5 years ahead of time. It starts with the AD's phone. Neither Kansas or Mizzou gave themselves any chance at a title when they scheduled games.

Mizzou hasn't beaten a currently ranked team this season. They had one shot at it, and they lost.
In light of this, any talk of big Mizzou accomplishments can be dismissed to pure homerism, and absolutely nothing else.
