Who were you going to put on the team? You had your best players on the roster sans injuries. Who did they leave off that should've been there? Your guys just didn't perform...simple as that. Blame Quinn. Blame Gretzky and the rest of Hockey Canada. Your guys failed and it's possible that some of the other teams are just better than Canada right now. In case you noticed, you guys aren't the only country that plays hockey. I wouldn't panic too much considering the young talent you have waiting in the pipeline. 2010 will be insane with Crosby, Staal and Spezza among other joining the squad. I'm sure it's meltdown central up in Canada right now but it's not the end of the world. All four teams remaining are as good or better than Team Canada...that just shows the depth and balance of the field.

Sweden lays an Oren-sized beatdown on the Czechs to advance.

SYNW, if Sweden does manage to beat the winner of Russia/Finland, I owe you a beer and an apology.

FYI

you'll get neither.

Finland cruising.

A Finland - Sweden final is a 1a rivalry to Canada/Russia, and probably a pretty good result for these boring ass Euro Winter X-games.

5-3 Finns

Finland in sighttennen of their firstennen Olympinenn hockey goldennen, and a very legitennen one at that.

VOITTAA SUOMI!!!!

Well I'll take whatever I can get. I don't think I am so smart, I never said Sweden would win, just that they could.

The one thing I noticed more than anything else was that the European teams would more often than not skate the puck into the offensive zone to set up plays instead of dumping the puck in. I didn't see the U.S. and Canada doing it as much.

Might be the fact that his tank was on E pretty much the whole time?
You're going to tell me that he didn't have enough to play on a PP, even on the point?
Spare me. What, you're going to tell me that Tortorella would have won them a medal?

Please.

Modano was playing like shit. He was slack, lax, and uninspired. He wasn't doing shit, and I don't fucking blame Laviolette for benching his ass.

I'm saying Tortorella would have given them a better chance to win a medal.

I'm going to blame Laviolette, especially if it was known that Rafalski was injured and you could dress 20 skaters. Where were the extra defenseman? Rafalski looked like absolute shit in that last game and cost the U.S. badly on that SH goal after the timeout.
