On the subject -- the lobster thing in Maine is no joke. Ate at a place in Waterville that had... and I'm not making this up... lobster ice cream. I took a pass on that. They have lobster rolls at freaking McDonalds(or so the sign said, since I didn't go there. It was next door to the hotel).

New Hampshire-Discount Liquor The I-95 rest stop in a huge liquor store. Same on I-93.

Ct does have New Haven pizza and countless really good Italian places.

While Arizona isn't a New York or Cali when it comes to the foodie scene, and Pizzeria Bianco is THAT good, there are plenty of 5 star restaurants here that merit a much higher ranking. Beckett's Table, Postino, Citizen Public House, Quiessence at The Farm, Nobuo at Teeter House, etc. It's a long list and this reviewer is dead wrong.

San Diego County has more small farms than any county in the country and something like 60 Certified Farmer's Markets (vendors have to be the same as the growers).

Something like 90% of broccoli, lettuce, cabbage, and most other field vegetables in the US are grown in the Salinas Valley.

I remember driving north on I-5 and seeing various crops on both sides as far as you could see. The funny one was the tomatoes. They were trucking them in uncovered trailers to the processing place. Where there was a bridge over a road and a small bump, some of the tomatoes would go flying off onto the road. Squirrels would go onto the highway to feed. Much road kill resulting.
Best money making land was in the southern area where there were oil wells amid the farmland.

We don't, Our Farmers Markets are probably the best in the world, right out of the fields and inexpensive.
Should be plenty of Ag water this year so it should be a bit better for all of you as well.

Diego...go about 15 miles east of I-5 and you will find thousands of acres of corn. Some amazing sweet corn and a LOT of field corn grown for the dairy industry alone, most dairies have their own fields.
The best sweet sweet corn I have ever had is grown by Fresno State's Ag Dept near the city of Tranquility,
