Wow, a 90 song set list? That in and of itself has to be a record. I'm sure you all had a real good time.

But so did I.

Post pix of the debauchery or it will be considered to never have happened.
I wish I could but all we brought along on the river is a disposable water proof camera. Wifey told me after last time that I had better not take pics of only "butts and boobs" this year so I didn't get many of the debauchery. At least not of the 'scantily clad drunk bitches with incredible tits and ass' variety.

But as always, there was plenty of that and I have a photographic memory of such spectacles. It was glorious.

This article is one you might phind interesting. Gotta say I agree with most of it. Many of Phish's lyrics are absolutely horrible, and other than Hoist, most of their studio albums aren't terribly good. There's only one reason anyone outside Vermont has ever heard of them - their concerts. The first time I saw them, I'd never heard of them nor heard any of their music. But the concert was GREAT. I've seen 'em four times, and their shows are unlike any other band's. You don't have to like their music to realize they are four outstanding musicians, and while I don't expect anything I say here would convince you to spend your money to go see them, I'll go out on a limb and say that IF you ever went to one of their concerts, you'd have a different opinion of them than you currently hold. They might go from being "gawd-awful" to simply awful.

Check out "Born Ugly" or any of the Brand X stuff. Phil does some evry nice drumming. And they had very cool album covers. I bought their stuff back in the day just because of the Hipgnosis-designed covers.

That's the only stuff of Phil's I can listen to. Maybe I should give him a shot, but...

I have. Am somewhat down. Pretty sure that Phil checked out once and for all somewhere around '82 ? I'll dive into my crates, pretty sure that I snatched a couple of their albums from my Dad. Masques ? Moroccan something or other ? (edit - i think you were editing as i was replying)

Dear Sam,

I am unable to accept your intolerance and lack of appreciation for Phil's perfectly crafted pop songs. Get on board or I will fight you.

Love,

Apples and oranges. Pop artist isn't even close to the first thing that comes to mind when I think of or listen to PG.
Progressive and highly influential artist overall, human rights activist, eccentric human being rank higher for me.

While he had one crazy successful album that would probably be considered "pop" by most people, he's been making "world music" (or other music) for more years than I've been an adult.

If I wanted to banter with tedious know-it-alls, I'd call my Dad.

edited - because i'm apparently a half wit. when i replied to Mgo up there, I was thinking of Mike Rutherford. i was a bit taken aback at the mere thought of Mgo preferring MR over PC but whatevs. We are all unique and flawed creatures and i'm accustomed to my illusions being shattered. My point was, PG never even entered the thought process because of the whole "pop artist" subject. Ya dig ?

Gabriel's albums before "So" all garnered significant AOR airplay. Just sayin.

Rack, and I can't really disagree with any of that. For a drive-by post, it just seemed easier to say "pop artist" rather than type out his Wikipedia entry, but yeah, you could slot him into a few different genres.

If you break that down any further, I might think you're a Wall Street serial killer.
