Is there a tourney this week?

Post by Dinsdale »

You know the rules -- have your pics in by monday morning or later.

I'll go with...

Do I really need to say it?

Mr. Haters Say He's Off His Game Yet Is Rocking The World #1.

My dark horse -- are there any other darkies playing?

I guess for my dark horse I'll go with...

Dinsdale's Old Buddy's Stepbrother. Garrigus has thde length to do some damage at Augusta.

Furyk has been money of late, right up until he gets to the green. If he can make some putts, he can contend.

Phildo seems to like Augusta these days.

The Champ could be a factor.

GMac has been playing well.

The South African Bobbsies like the course as well. Between them, they have a 1st and a runner-up. Don't count them out. For that matter, their mentor kinda won a Major last year, too. Can he find the magic again?

I'd love to see Veej come out and kill it, or Freddie... yeah, I'll go ahead and shit in the other hand.

I'm pumped the fuck up.

I know it's a little early for predictions, but here goes......

sergio will eventually air mail it.....
dustin johnson will wilt......
couples will make it interesting.....for a while
that 14 year old kid will make the cut....
sandy lyle may vapor lock on the 11th tee....

they'll rethink their "lifetime exemption" when crenshaw puts up an 85 to go along with his opening round 80
katilda's boy will be there at the end
ray's creek will haul in it's fair share of balls
somebody will hit double figures on number 12

old geezers in green coats will be seen everywhere
the dude abides
get out, get out while there's still time

I see the 14-year-old tourist from the Far East got dinged today for slow play.

A Chinese guy driving too slow? Really?

that is one of the most horseshit calls I've ever seen at that tournament......luckily that one stroke penalty didn't cost the kid a chance to play on the weekend......Crenshaw was fucking pissed at that bush league ref that called that penalty on the kid....I think "gentle" ben wanted to carve his initials into that fuckwads forehead with his PW.....

the dark prince got one of the unluckiest bounces I've seen in some time on number 15....a perfect shot.....2 inches either way, and he probably would have birdied the hole and taken the outright lead....he held it together and made a great bogey on the hole though

Disagree. The group was warned 3 times, if I heard correctly. Generally, you get 1 warning -- I think Ben's status got them a bunch of leniency. But when the group behind them had a 30 minute wait on the box on the front 9, it was obvious the warnings weren't being heeded, and it was time to drop the hammer. Ben Crane thought those fuckers were slow.

Has anyone ever been waved through on the PGA?

What is the measuring stick for slow play?

The PGA has specific rules, but they're so randomly/sporadically enforced, they're near moot (although The Masters isn't a PGA tournament, remember).

Seems that not much is said or done until they end up with 2 groups waiting on the same box, generally. At that point, the group causing the holdup (not an individual player) is "put on the clock." All players in an on-the-clock group have 5 minutes (and they're now being timed) from the time they strike a shot until the next shot. If anyone in the group exceeds this, everyone in the group gets a stroke penalty... enforcement through peer-pressure. I believe there's exceptions if a player/group needs to look for a lost ball (you get 5 minutes to look for a ball, which rarely comes up on the PGA, what with a buhzillion people watching it for you).

Crenshaw's group was given a lot of leniency. Augusta doesn't like to intervene much, and wants it settled on the course.
