Can someone explain the near universal hatred for Duke?

I would agree that it would be nice to see the top 64/65 teams in the tournament, including Iowa this year, but there are only a handful of teams who have a realistic chance of becoming national champions and the chances for Liberty, Mercer, or Florida Gulf Coast are about the same as Iowa's (if they were in the tournament). It's all about good TV and the more small schools that are invited, the better the odds that one of them will pull off an upset or two and grab the attention of the TV audience and the country (as Florida Gulf Coast has done this year). It's all about TV ratings and money....just like everything else. America will always love a good David and Goliath story and the NCAA is always looking for a good story line.

I agree on the former, but not the latter. America is overpopulated with knuckle-dragging in-breds like Sam who would rather watch Alabama and Iowa puke it out in the tournament than FL Gulf Coast versus whoever. It's proven in the ratings, unfortunately.

Alabama isn't in the tourney... because they simply are not good enough to be in the tourney.

If they were... they would have been in. It's really that simple.

Florida Gulf Coast should not be there.

Gulf Coast would have run Alabama out of the gym by halftime. It would have just been a scrimmage against the JV for Coast and a way to rest the starters.

Wisconsin was simply out-coached in the 2nd half and it was interesting how it frustrated the badgers.

When the ball would come into a guy at the three point line two guys would flash out and do almost a trap. It was really disruptive to the badgers.

It may have been a scouting thing... that Wisconsin didn't have a guy who could split that and would be forced to retreat/reset.




Mississippi showed their true colors in the next game losing to a horrible La Salle team.
