Jobs that require higher levels of skill will undoubtedly pay more on the private side because that is what the market will bear. What most people are fed up with are the low skill public sector gigs that pay sometimes double what a comparable private side job pays.

If there is one part of this thing that bugs me a bit, it is the exemption for firefighters/cops. Seems like ever since 9/11, we REPUBLICANS have transformed EXPLOITED this group into some sort of deity. And save me the bit about them being underpaid. They may be in some parts, but they sure the fukk aren't here. Most of them have the pension plans that are based on highest three years INCLUDING OT. And these fukkers play that rule like a stradivarius. There are hartford cops that retire at 20 years with 70K pensions, starting day one. He's already drawing two taxpayer-paid pensions, will soon get a third one, and has just been named by Scott Walker to a $90,000 a year state job.

Nardelli, a long-time alderman, collects a $30,000-a-year pension from the city. He also draws an Army pension, having served more than 25 years, much of it in the reserves, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He was Walker's county chief of staff at a salary of $75K, and is still drawing that until April, when his unused vacation and personal days run out and he switches to a $4500 a month county pension.

For those good at math, that's at least $100,000 a year in pensions, on top of his $90,000 salary.

Nardelli will also be eligible for a state pension. If he keeps his state job for four years, he could get about $5,700 a year.

Depending what figures you look at for both sides, it looks like Oregon, on a per-capita basis is deeper in the hole than california -- that's not an easy feat too pull off... and the lion's share is public employee entitlements. And Oregon now has a credit-rating worldwide in the negative numbers, so the borrowing money until revenues go up thing is out of the question -- the money just isn't there. And to try and fix it, new taxes got passed that had the ultimate in unintended consequences -- they're in the early stages of taxing all but the tax-reduced companies (sup Intel and Nike) right out of the state, so the brilliant business taxes they shoved down everyone's throats with threats, have led to reduced state revenue. The funny part is, that the public employee unions (who completely have 100% control of Oregon elections) thought they were voting themselves a pay-raise... looks like they voted themselves a pay cut and large layoffs.


The well dries up sooner or later.

And whenever there's a shortfall, the fatcats will only threaten to fire cops and teachers -- nevereverever 6-figure administrators or other non-productive positions -- only teachers and cops.

INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indiana deputy attorney general "is no longer employed" by the state after Mother Jones magazine reported he tweeted that police should use live ammunition against Wisconsin labor protesters, the attorney general's office said Wednesday.

The magazine reported Wednesday that Jeffrey Cox responded "Use live ammunition" to a Saturday night posting on its Twitter account that said riot police could sweep protesters out of the Wisconsin capitol, where thousands have been protesting a bill that would strip public employees of collective bargaining rights.

Cox also referred to the protesters as "thugs physically threatening legally-elected state legislators & governor" and said "You're damn right I advocate deadly force," according to the magazine. He later told an Indianapolis television station the comments were intended to be satirical.

Rep. Michael Capuano (D-Mass.) fired up a group of union members in Boston with a speech urging them to work down in the trenches to fend off limits to workers' rights like those proposed in Wisconsin.

Someone is trying to implement a "lord and serf" dynamic, alright. On this, you are correct.

But the wannabe "lords" are people who took positions of little-to-no-benefit to society, whose vision is to ultimately have the half of the people who actually produce something of tangible benefit to society give up over half of what they rightfully earned, to support their half of the population that they've deemed needs to be paid to keep a watchful eye on the other half.

And on top of that nonsense, they're now demanding their "right" to extort a larger percentage of the Productive Half's income as they see fit.


So, you're partially right -- there is a concentrated effort to create a lords-and-serfs system... the "lords" want to get paid (at a higher rate than the serfs, of course) to produce nothing, but rather tell the serfs what where and when they should produce the goods and services that generate the revenue that enables the lords to even exist.


It's not their money to decide what to do with -- that belongs to everyone else, and they should feel rather blessed that The People are generous enough to offer them a non-productive job in the first place.
