But running a 8:10 final mile tells me I was sandbagging the run for the most part. I can pace myself well on the swim and bike. I can never seem to find the right run pace - I normally run too slow in fear that I'm going to blow up later on the run... and that has never happened with the exception of the 70.3 in Galveston which had nothing to do with endurance.

My swim and bike times are in line with people that go 5 hours. Then I run 30 minutes slower than they do. I gotta figure that out.

As with anything within Troll folklore there is a wee bit of truth to your recollection.

I left my job to get a start-up tech company going with one of my buddies. The dot.bomb happened and we were shit out of luck. I decided to pursue the FBI gig and began that long and arduous process with 9/11 slowing that process down. I also managed to get another degree during that time.

So, I was technically unemployed but I was working on a start-up and getting more edumicated. I did have an awful lot of free time that I devoted to playing video games and working out though. Hence, the exaggerated version of events.

The real version of that was I made a comment about the first Maxim spread that Meadow Soprano did (whatever the hell her real name is). I said her shoulder area looked like it could use a little toning and she should hit the gym a bit more. I was looking for the tiniest of flaws. Next thing you know I have a fetish for women who look like Holocaust victims.
