Going into this weekend, we again had the possibility of four WCHA teams in the Frozen Four. Here’s bracketology from the USCHO website:

The brackets as we have set them up:

Northeast Regional:
Ferris State vs. Boston College
Michigan State vs. North Dakota

Midwest Regional:
Minnesota-Duluth vs. Miami
New Hampshire vs. Alaska

East Regional:
Northern Michigan vs. Wisconsin
Cornell vs. Bemidji State

West Regional:
AHA Champion vs. Denver
Yale vs. St. Cloud State

The problem is that Bemidji lost in the semis of the CHA tournament and Alabama-Huntsville won the conference’s automatic bid. 12-17-3 Alabama Huntsville. The CHA is a mediocre 4-team conference that probably shouldn’t even have an automatic bid. But because they do, Minnesota-Duluth could be on the outside looking in. Hopefully at that point, they swap St. Cloud State into the Midwest.

Oh well, as long as Bucky makes its expected run to their 7th NCAA title, all is good.

You'll lose to Bemidji in the regional final. So you can kiss your All-WCHA Final Four dream goodbye. And look at that, Gobbles: Four CCHA teams in the tournament. Looks like your delusions of WCHA dominance are just that, delusions.

Nice upset by Michigan over Sparty...beat 'em twice in Munn over the weekend. The offense has caught fire in the CCHA tourney...21 goals in 4 games. Michigan, Miami, Ferris State and Northern Michigan in the final four at the Joe next weekend. The Wolverines is the only team that needs to win this tournament outright to get in...Miami, Ferris and Northern along with MSU should be able to get in but if Michigan wins, one of the top 4 might get left out.

Northern won the first semifinal over Ferris in OT...Michigan split with them at Yost earlier this season.

Michigan completes the improbable run...2-1 over Northern to keep their tourney streak alive. Maybe I oughta look at grabbing some Frozen Four tickets after all.
