Veteran's Day

Post by Wolfman »

This is the day set aside to honor all men and women who have served in our armed forces. Here's a thought for you ... that old man driving that Buick at 20 mph below the speed limit? You know .. the one with the big ears and that driving hat? Give him a break. He might have been one of those who waded ashore on Utah Beach on D-Day. He might have dragged a buddy to safety after seeing him cut down by German fire. We owe these people so much ... whether they saw combat or not. They've been there to defend our freedoms. Now, more than ever, that should mean something to you.

Hat tip to Neal Boortz.

Rack our veterans. And that old geezer holding up traffic gets a pass today. Tomorrow he gets the finger.

That part I disagree with. Honoring those who served in defense of our freedoms should never be regarded as a trivial matter.

They should be shown respect daily.... not just one day a year.

That being said.... they shouldn't be given a free pass to get on the road where they can kill more people.

90 years ago, November 11th, 1918... the armistice was signed that ended the "War to end all Wars".

As of today, there is only one living American veteran of World War I.

Rack that sonofagun, and all veterans, this day and every day.

Should any of you ever have the good misfortune of finding yourself in KC, I strongly suggest you take the time to visit the WWI museum at the Liberty Memorial.

Actually, I'm kinda rare. I'm a biker neocon rather than the more common biker hippy fag. I don't do it to save the earf or reduce my carbon footprint. I do it for a far better reason.

LOMA LINDA, California (CNN) -- Anthony Acevedo thumbs through the worn, yellowed pages of his diary emblazoned with the words "A Wartime Log" on its cover. It's a catalog of deaths and atrocities he says were carried out on U.S. soldiers held by Nazis at a slave labor camp during World War II -- a largely forgotten legacy of the war.

About 165 survived, he says. Acevedo tried to keep track of all the deaths in this diary.
3 of 3 more photos » Acevedo pauses when he comes across a soldier with the last name of Vogel.

"He died in my arms. He wouldn't eat. He didn't want to eat," says Acevedo, now 84 years old. "He said, 'I want to die! I want to die! I want to die!' "

The memories are still fresh, some 60 years later. Acevedo keeps reading his entries, scrawled on the pages with a Schaeffer fountain pen he held dear. See inside Acevedo's diary »

He was one of 350 U.S. soldiers held at Berga an der Elster, a satellite camp of the Nazis' notorious Buchenwald concentration camp. The soldiers, working 12-hour days, were used by the German army to dig tunnels and hide equipment in the final weeks of the war. Less than half of the soldiers survived their captivity and a subsequent death march, he says.

Pure Jewish fantasy, calculated and scripted to cast American soldiers in the role of "victim", thereby binding their narrative to that of Jew concentration camp detainees.

Can't you people decipher this stuff? It's very basic.

Technicaly, I don't think anyone ever died to protect Canadians. Even other Canadians. We just protect them serendipitously, they're lucky to have such epic neighbors.

Tartyred;
Not only may you disagree with the mission of those that served, they may agree with you on the politics of their mission. But each of them knows that regardless of their viewpoints all of them know/knew that a country cannot stand without a standing military. So they serve/served their country by going where their CINC sends them.

Anyone who can't rack these patriots doesn't deserve the freedom that their service & sacrifice brings.
