Steve McNair

Post by poptart »

Lived up to what you'd expect out of a #3 overall pick.
He kept his nose clean, handled himself with dignity, and played his @ss off.
Not a HoF career, but super-tough, durable and highly competetive.
Steady passer, steady leader, and rushed for over 3,500 yds.
Won an AFC Championship.
Won a league MVP award.

Probably has a seat among the top 30-or-so QBs to ever lace 'em up.

One tough hombre.

Much respect to #9 from me.

Ditto...McNair was the AFC's version of Brett Favre.

I'd hardly go that far except to say that McNair was as tough a customer as they come. After that, the comparisons between McNair and Favre end.

Not a HOFer by a long shot, but he is the only QB to get my Oilers/Titans to the Super Bowl and damn near won it if not for "The Stop." I still think he may try to come back, but if not, I would be happy for him. Leave the game while you are upright, still young and lacking multiple concussions.

Rack Steve McNair. He went the Warren Moon route off the field sans beating his wife. Class act, and I hope he is interested in a future of coaching because he has a pretty good ead on his shoulders and is a hell of a leader.
