What are we....3 weeks away?

Post by RumpleForeskin »

Give me the new

Give me the predictions

and give me the same ol' same ol'

Martin scoots over to DEI, Franchitti gets into a car with a top, Villeneuve as well. Jr. goes to the "evil" empire known as HMS. There all other kinds of stories out there.

What to make of it? Who the fuck knows.

Predictions? Jr. ends his losing drought in at Daytona and makes the Chase. Montoya gets in the chase too. Kasey Kahne has a bounce back year and makes it. Johnson and Gordon will be at or near the top again, so we'll see what happens.

Whatcha got?

Who gives a fuck?

NASCAR and Gibbs sold out to Toyota, Jr. sold out to Hendicks, and I'm having a tough time caring anymore.

This coming from what used to be a big fan.

Depressing, really.

I can see you being pissed that Jr. joined the "Evil Empire" and all. But why do you give a fuck if Tony Stewart wins in an American built Toyota or an American built Chevy? I could understand manufacturer loyalty a little bit back in the days when it was possible to buy the cars you saw being raced on a showroom floor. Nowadays, I could care less if Gordon drives a Chevy, Ford or Herbie the fucking Love Bug as long as he takes the checker.

I'm not trying to be morose, but it just ain't what it used to be. I used to look forward to and get all geeked up for the Daytona 500. That passion just isn't there anymore.

Maybe it's just me being bitter. Maybe a win by Harvick or any RCR driver will shake me from this reverie, but I doubt it. The sport's just too commercial and contrived anymore.

I miss the #3.

I miss those days, and they ain't coming back. Ever.

So you Gordon and Johnson fans knock yourselves out. This is your time, I guess.

His new shoe Neff has already qualified #4....did you see Hillary Will ran 333mph????

Best of all, my boy Greg Anderson is qualifying WELL with the new G6 GXP car....I hope to God GA gets back to the top of Pro Stock this year. It KILLED me watching that punk-ass Dave Connolly win 6 out of the last 7 races last year. :brad:

I may have to adopt the NHRA as my new redneck gearhead passion.

I'll have to get out to Heartland park Topeka and catch 'em this year. Watching it live beats the hell out of watching it on TV.

Wags, you're a fucking whiney, little bitch you know that?

Here we are on the cusp of this sport breaking out to an international stage and your feelings get all hurt because Jr. is rollin' with HMS and Tony Stewart drives a Toyota. Who gives a flying fuck. It coud be worse, both those guys could have taken a right instead of a left in turn 4 at Daytona.

Big picture, Whitey.

Who gives a fuck if they do? NASCAR has become a glorified 30-something race IROC circuit right before our eyes. It's almost unwatchable now, especially with the fucking "Toyotas" allowed in.

Come on over to NHRA Drag Racing, Wags....all the cool kids are doing it.

"we" are?

Let me know when NASCAR replaces Formula 1, and no, just because Montoya drives a Dodge and Toyota is rubbing fenders doesn't make it "international". It's still a redneck sport and will always be a redneck sport, sport.
It coud be worse, both those guys could have taken a right instead of a left in turn 4 at Daytona.
Huh? What the fuck is that supposed to mean and what the fuck does it have to do with my feelings on the state of NASCAR?

Try to have a point and not suck next time you want to clutter up this forum with ignorant ramblings, dumbshit.

POMONA, Calif. - Results of final, round 4 eliminations at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 48th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts Winternationals:

TOP FUEL

(W) Tony Schumacher (U.S. Army Dragster) 0.041 4.499 331.28
(L) Cory McClenathan (Fram Dragster) 0.071 4.536 329.26

McClenathan is in his fifth Winternationals final with a 3/2 win/loss ratio and last won here in 2004. This will be his 51st final round appearance. Schumacher is the four time TF Champion and has a 19 to 11 win advantage over Cory Mac, with two wins and one loss in the final rounds.

An all Don Schumacher Racing TF final and The Army car is away first and powers on down the track for a decisive win. McClanathan in the Fram dragster was right there and closely followed with another strong four-fifty pass at almost three hundred thirty MPH.

-Top Fuel winner Tony Schumacher

FUNNY CAR

(W) Robert Hight (AAA of So. Cal Mustang) 0.061 4.861 284.39
(L) Cruz Pedregon (Advance Auto Parts Impala) 0.057 4.879 322.50

Hight is 5-3 in finals and one of those is a win over Pedregon. Pedregon's last win was at Las Vegas '1' in 2006. That makes eight straight wins at this track for Hight and the JFR teams. It was pretty even but Hight was leading at every marker. By the time he got to the stripe the pony was on it's nose, as witnessed by the speed of the Mustang.

-Funny Car winner Robert Hight

PRO STOCK

(W) Greg Anderson (Summit Racing Equipment GXP) 0.027 6.616 209.23
(L) Jeg Coughlin (Jegs.com Cobalt) 0.025 6.638 208.42

Coughlin is the 2007 PS Champion, but Anderson has a 30 to 17 win advantage over the Yellow Car, seven to six in final rounds.

Almost identical RT's at the green and the new Summit Racing Pontiac GXP of Anderson thunders ahead of Coughlin by sixty feet and then continued to pull steadily ahead for the win and the 2008 Winternationals Pro Stock Championship.

Great race and a six foot lead for Anderson at the finish line.

That's OK, he's not going to be posting any self portraits.

As for NHRA, I just can't see the thrill in watching two guys mash on the accelerator for 4 seconds. What makes racing fun is watching strategy unfold on the track and in the pits.

That's why you need to "see" it live and in person, because that's what I used to think before I actually saw some dragsters.

You don't just see it, you feel it deep down inside. It's enough to make your dick hard.

I've taken friends of mine that could've given a shit less about ANY kind of racing, much less drag racing, to Heartland Park Topeka to the annual NHRA event there and to a man they came away throughly HOOKED on the sport. As Wags said, you can actually feel the brute horsepower going right through you when the Nitro-burning cars go by you.

Oh, and TRUST ME- there's plenty of "strategy" in trying to plant northwards of 8,000hp to the pavement.

Lighten up Francis.

It's all good.

A lot of people can't see the fun of guys driving around in circles on a track.

Par 90? Right about now it would be 110 for me. My game is an absolute shambles. Think Ian Baker-Finch times infinity and you have me. Though I am starting to get the juices flowing. Perhaps a few months of steady play would get me in position to break 100 on that beast that sports a 137 slope and a 73.7 rating.

I might be able to get out later this summer, but family responsibilities are going to kill any road trip/golf outing opportunities through at least the middle of August.

Duck hook? Not on your life. I'm all about the "power fade".

That aside, you're on. It's just going to have to be very late in the season.

BTW: I belive you about the "par 90". With a slope of 137, you're getting into Bethpage Black territory.
