OCmike's Humpday Challenge

Post by OCmike »

OCmike's Humpday Challenge

There is only one rule: No more than one correctly answered question per person, per hour.

Please copy and paste the question into your response to make the thread easier to follow. Thanks.

1. It is 1943. You have been transported by railway freight car to a concentration camp near your native Krakow. As you get off the train, you see a sign above the main gate reading "Arbeit Macht Frei". What does this sign literally mean?

2. On occasion, in one of the concentration camps, you see male German prisoners wearing pink triangles. What does this triangle represent?

3. In the kidney there is a microscopic structure which functions to collect the blood filtrate that will eventually form urine. What is this named?

4. Which part of the gastro-intestinal tract is associated with the sphincter of Oddi?

5. With one of the weirdest names in anatomy, where is the Zonule of Zinn found?

6. Who did Colorado need five downs to beat in the 1990 season?

7. Who did Colorado share their 1990 National Championship with?

8. Who won the Heisman trophy in 2001?

9. Casey Clausen lost 1 SEC road game his whole career at Tennessee to who?

10. Which two Longhorns heard their names called during the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft?

11. UCLA retired uniform #5 in honor of what player, who was a 3 time All-American, and 4 time All-Conference honoree?

12. How many people were president before president Clinton?

13. In medieval times, what was a ‘quintain’?

14. What exactly was a 'motte'?

15. Who was the leader of the Church at the time of the initiation of the Crusades? He is also credited with being the initiator.

16. During the crusades, how long had the Muslims held Jerusalem before the Western Christians initiated a recapture mission?

17. What WWII aircraft was used in the Doolittle raid?

18. What was the British “Mosquito” plane made out of?

19. What pitcher holds the lifetime record for average number of strikeouts per game?

20. Name the six AL pitchers who have won the Cy Young Award and MVP in the same season.

18. What was the British “Mosquito” plane made out of?

Wood. Molded plywood.

BTW, I would have hoped that this was one thread that might be a safe haven from the inane ramblings of that tedious cunt, but I guess not.

Well, the nephron isn't microscopic, so I'm assuming you want something more specific. Bowman's capsule.

19. What pitcher holds the lifetime record for average number of strikeouts per game?

LTS/Nick Frisco/Carol Condit/FOO averaged an even three strikeouts per game while performing for the Chinatown Egg Foo Yungs, during the 2001 and 2002 season. His notorious 81 mph fastfball actually was never ever hit. Jesus cculd hit Nolan Ryan but he couln't hit the famous Zionist killer heat. Also for you facts buffs, the other person of that pitcher-catcher team was, TVO, aka the Stubby Conspiracy Hack.

But one day they awoke together, pine tarred each others bats and played, "Upside It," for the rest of the season.

12. How many people were president before president Clinton?
40. There were 41 Presidents before Clinton, but one man (Grover Cleveland) served two non-consecutive terms and is counted as two Presidents.

He may have been two Presidents, but he was still only one person. Gotta read the question.

13. In medieval times, what was a ‘quintain’?

An object used to help train a knight. It consisted of a shield and dummy suspended from a swinging pole, kind of a practice target. Like the jousting equivalent of BSmack.

I am catching on. The shield would be the unbalanced one-LTS, the dummy is TVO and the swinging pole would be Dinsdaleinski. So I have to wait an hour now, Mike?

I see that Zardoz is freaking over Toto biting at the curtains again.

Please. He's just being honest about where he gets his expertise. It's only trivia. People don't know shit by being born with knowledge. You have to learn it somewhere. If you are faster at ferreting out info than others, then it's all good. The point is learning, as much as regurgitation.

(but yeah, the mods can split this off, since it doesn't pertain to the thread.)

Hey, I'm being honest...I had to look it up. Was it better I had the right answer by looking it up or taking some wild stab in the dark and being totally wrong? I can't say I'm up on the retired numbers for the UCLA football team.

Novel idea, sir...I didn't think of that. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that has looked up an answer for the OHC...of course Dins would never lower himself to doing that since he knows everything.

Geez, as OCMike will surely verify, I'm as quick as anyone to give him shit about his HumpedAGay Challenge, but I would never dream of sullying it by looking up answers.

Just because he doesn't post the Gentleman's Rule every time he takes the time to make it, it doesn't mean it's not in æffect.

Is it called the "Reference Site Challenge"?

No.

Is it called the "Wikipedia Challenge"?

No.

Do people walk on to the set of Jeopardy with an encyclopedia under their arm?

You've dissed everyone who has ever put their knowledge to the test by playing Mike's game, you lowlife.

It's one thing to use references to verify or eloborate an answer that you question the validity of, it's a whole nother ball of wax to use references to actually come up with the answer.

Fucking douchebag.
