How to capture YouTube, MySpace, Google Video etc...

Post by Shlomart Ben Yisrael »

For Firefox users:

1. Go to the link where the flash movie is offered for viewing.

2. In your Toolbar menu, click the Tools button, and from there click the Page Info button.

3. A new window will open up called Page Info. Click the Media tab and then amongst the addresses, scroll down until
you find an address with the type listed as embed.

4. Copy that address in it's entirety, and paste it into the search bar at this site

5. At the KeepVid site click the download tab. This will generate a working download link.

6. Now, in the download bar you will see a link that looks like this:
›› Download Link ‹‹ (.flv - Flash Video)

...right click the highlighted Download Link and select Save Link As...

7. Be sure that before you start downloading, you rename the link extension to .flv

Now, the easy way...

Get the VideoDownloader 1.1.1 add-on from Mozilla, and install it.
The instruction are on Mozilla's site.

Now that you've downloaded the clips as .flv files, get VLC Media Player to watch them.

For Linux users:

To convert .flv files to a more compliant .mpg format, first:

1. Make sure you have ffmpeg installed.

2. In the directory you have the .flv file, open up a terminal and type:
ffmpeg -i video.flv -ab 56 -ar 22050 -b 500 -s 320x240 test.mpg

...of course, change the video.flv part to whatever your file is actually named.

3. Hit ENTER. This will spit out an MPEG file named test.mpg You can later rename it to whatever you want.
