CDBaby.com

Post by Dinsdale »

Ran this thread at TSB......with little success. But until Major Hoople/Sudden Sam gets here, I'll give it another whirl --

Anybody ever use/browse http://www.cdbaby.com ?

Great site. Whatever kind of music you like, they've got it. I think they've got over 70,000 bands on there now.

I'll share my favorite links, which the TSB posters have grown tired of hearing about, I'm sure.

My favorite local(not for long) band right now --

If you get bored, browse that sucker and post anything you find that's cool. Everybody here put together couldn't listen to all of it in a month of sundays. Very cool site.

I've been checking out this site since you mentioned it on TSB (I've been reading the threads on that site for the longest time because you guys make me laugh) and absolutely love it! I especially like the page that lists the best albums to buy for your specific mood/occasion.

I heard them talk about CDBaby on NPR a couple weeks ago as I was getting ready for work. That means it MUST be cool and you aren't the only one who thinks so. :)

Here's the link to the story:

How many fucking years have Major Hoople/Sudden Sam and I been trying to tell you this?

Basically, if you're not at least somewhat familiar with cdbaby by this point, consider yourself a musical idiot.

And maybe because I'm 1/16th Scots*, I'm a sucker for bagpipes.

* - Please don't tell anyone. The only reason the family acknowledges it is because he was a very famous, influential one. Let's just keep it our little secret, mkay?

NO WAY!!!

I was (obviously) browsing CDBaby.com, when I came across this blast from the past.......Fall From Grace.

http://cdbaby.com/allmp3/fallfromgrace.m3u
CDBaby.com wrote: Fall From Grace is an alternative metal band hailing from Portland, Oregon. This four piece creation consists of
James Trujillo Jr.: Guitar
Drew Raymond: Bass
Jim Pittman: Drums
Dane Petersen: Throat
Famous on the US West Coast for their pulse pounding live shows, Fall From Grace set the standard for alternative metal bands in the 90's and the new millenium. Some of the bands Fall From Grace has played with include White Zombie, Tool, Helmet, Monster Magnet,Sweaty Nipples and Everclear. Branching off into a new and more professional direction, Fall From Grace joined up with former Ozzy Osbourne and current Journey drummer: Dean Castronovo and, guitarist: Dominic Little for an insane musical project called Repellent. Stay tuned for more from this ever evolving Band of Lunatics.

Two of those members are old, old buddies of mine, one of which I just saw for the first time in quite a while. He recently took a break from obsessive breeding, and came out of retirement. Can't wait to see his new band, since through all the early incarnations, the mission was always to have fun, and make sure the crowd does the same, first and foremost.

There was a persistant rumor that when they opened for White Zombie on their first tour, my bud nailed the bass player chick after the show(I think she was going out with Rob Zombie at the time, but I could be wrong), a rumor he would neither confirm nor deny.

OK, enough metal, and maybe something with a little more broad appeal. This one's a little more upbeat, for sure. And with a name like Happy Headless Clones, they must be OK.

I second this one. Corb Lund makes my nipple hard, but not in the way you're thinking, sinner.
