Aussie Floyd...anyone seen 'em live?

Post by PrimeX »

They're here tonight in a rather small venue and I'm thinking about going. Gilmour even gives them mad props and has attended their shows. They allegedly put on a 2 1/2 hour show that many are blown away with saying they mock Floyd perfectly.

Should stay or should I go now...

Anyone?

Go here.

They have some full song clips for download. Check it out and decide for yourself.

Oh, and here's the wmv video clip in case you want to take a peek. I got sick of waiting for it to load, so I snagged it.

Looks like a fair representation of a Floyd show minus the flying pigs.

OK: I've listened to all the live clips. Honestly, about halfway through I forgot I was listening to a "tribute band". These guys do a damn good job of selling the act.

Prime, last year I won a couple of tickets to the Aussie Floyd show by being the 15th caller (s'up autoredial) on a local radio station. Wasn't even going to use the tickets, but talked my brother into going with me.

If I'd known then that they were that good, I would have forked over the cost of the tickets to see them.....they're better than the originals in some respects....

have fun

You just bought these and the show is tonight? I'm guessing you and the other 40 people in attendence will each get to request a song.

Yeah, lil' secret. Many shows release floor seats the day of concerts when reserved seats are cancelled. A little birdie told me this, and I passed it along to another little birdie who scored McCartney tickets to his show here last Saturday. Sold out, but birdie went online 5 hours before the show and scored 6th row thanks to unclaimed tickets.

I wasn't even gonna go as I kept checking and I was getting upper decker tickets or extreme right or left. I pulled the handle once more and BOOM! I got 3 oranges. Pretty much what made up the mind to go wish I was on acid while enjoying the light show. Sure beats sitting home baking pies and watching Wife Swap on Fox or whatever it is you married folk do teh night before Dallas Cowboy Detroit Lions day.

You should know these things, fuckputt.

I know these things. Just don't find much use for the info.

Next time I wanna spend $250 to hear 70 year old Paul McCartney sing "My Brave Face" and 20 other songs I don't know will be the first.

Fuck, the only reason to see Pink Floyd these days is to see if Roger Waters starts playing a song off The Final Cut only to be cut off my Gilmour and an on-stage melee ensues.

The show was surprisingly most excellent! These guys sounded incredible and the bassist and his voice were a complete match for Waters. They even brought the huge big pig out during Pigs 1-2-3 and the light show/video's were fucking nice. Well worth the cash, no doubt. VERY happy night before Thanksgiving.

Set list;

Complete Dark Side of the Moon album...and the lady singers were most fucking awesome!

Intermission

Shine on You Crazy Diamond
One slip (Second best song of the night)
Fletcher memorial
Another brick in the wall 2
Careful with that axe Eugene
One of these days
Pigs 1-3
Wish you were here
Comfortably numb (Totally bad ass)

In the flesh
Run like hell

PS to Meester Bace. Verizon only holds around 4000 people and it was full, and I even chatted with Harris County Judge Eckles in line and in our seats. I now have judge 'bode since he's like a celeb and shit here.

You are the lies.

Pretty much the same set they did when I saw them. It was a lot like listening to the albums--they're that precise.

Comfortably numb was the highlight.....
