I’ll be expecting SC to pay homage to Tina.

I’m hoping he’ll include a tune we both enjoy where she sings backup.

Being the clever fella he is, I suspect he knows what I’m talking about.

I played Montana much to Biggie's chagrin last week & told the Tina & Ikettes story about their backing vocals. Shoulda been there. I'm sure I can find another one on which Tina sings backup.

This is Tina at her absolute best. 1966. River Deep, Mountain High.

Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound.

...and he had the good sense to kick Ike out of the recording session!

I was thinking Dinah Moe Hum.

Wasn’t aware she was on Montana.

Zappa may be the greatest musical collaborator of the 70s. That fuckin’ guy knew how to get the absolute best of the best together and make amazing music.

Trouble is it wasn’t exactly pop radio material.

Zappa, dogshit musically?

Are you really going with that?

Zappa put together the absolute best of the best. I’m sorry if you don’t get anything musically more complex than 3 chord pop tunes.

Zappa was a certified genius. Not just a musical genius but a legit next-level thinker. That was his strength and his weakness. He did things most humans could not conceive of. The complexity of his art went so far beyond the standard formula that sometimes I struggle to appreciate it.

By way of metaphor, I enjoy talking to mechanics and engineers and I usually understand enough to feel like I grasp the concepts, but when you come across a guy like Edward Witten he's talking about stuff I can't even start to comprehend. And so I have a hard time appreciating the genius of Edward Witten. It's simply too far beyond my cognitive ability.

Sometimes Zappa is like that for me. He is two levels beyond my understanding and sometimes his music is more science than art in a sphere of understanding I don't grasp. Or maybe I'm not taking the right drugs while listening to him. That could be it.

“So, if music is the best, what is music? Anything can be music, but it doesn’t become music until someone wills it to be music, and the audience listening to it decides to perceive it as music. – Frank Zappa

Very little of what he does is perceived by me as music, and Frank was fine with that.

You never acknowledged his musical genius. He was that objectively.

Just because you know nothing about physics, does not mean Einstein was not a genius.

In your words, your mind is a pretzel.

Once more for the slow. HE said music what people perceive it to be. His output was mostly dogshit, and he was fine with that.

It’s like talking to a wall.

Here’s the problem with your take on Zappa.

You didn’t say Zappa just wasn’t your cup of tea, which would be a perfectly acceptable statement. You said it was “musically dogshit”.

You basically said Frank belongs in the same category as Yoko Ono.

And that is weapons grade stupid.

Nice Strawman, and again for like the third time, his output wasn’t even music if I don’t perceive it as such, according to him. It’s funny how you tards love him and yet you don’t even understand him.

Fucking simpletons.

Stylistically someone could say that and be right. If anyone was a musical genius in that circle, it was Ike. Unpopular as that may be.
