I spent about 8 years working for an exceptionally talented person, the Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court. She had this incredible ability to bring people together and get things done, I've never seen anything like it before or since. I asked her how she was able to do that, over and over again in so many different circumstances. Her answer was simple and it has stayed with me: "it is amazing what you can get done when you don't care who gets the credit for it."

I know you are joking and all, but I am honestly surprised that more Green Liberals haven't advocated for exactly this with gas prices. If you wanted to put the oil and gas industry out of commission limit the price that can be charged for it at the pump. $2 per gallon would certainly do it.

On the flip side, gas retailers should show the raw price and the taxes separately. More people would be up in arms when they knew they were paying more than a $ a gallon in taxes when you add in the taxes on exploration and production.
