My god daughter in Denver made $21 an hour this past summer as a HS sophomore to be. Her employer is begging her to come back part time for the Holiday rush.

I know of workers in CA right now who have been with their employer for multiple years & are being paid minimum wage. "Entry level" & "training wage" are bullshit excuses for poverty wages. Same goes for the excuse that the jobs are for teenagers. If you go to a fast food joint like McDonald's during the day you're not going to see teenagers working there.

Is anyone rally shocked that your friends or acquaintances are as dumb as a box of rocks? If they are staying in jobs at minimum wage then that is on them. Target for example pays everyone a minimum of $15 an hour. Why don’t your friends or acquaintances move over to something new? Are they felons that are unhireable in most jobs? Are they special needs?

Again there is no need for a MW. As Screwy said, if you don’t make enough, then educate yourself or go somewhere else.

I would expect the head of a vaccine manufacturer to say exactly that.

1) He is setting the ground work for the possibility that the current vaccines do a bunch of nothing for this variant and that therefore isn’t his companies fault.

B) We are likely going to need more government funds to create a specific variant booster to deal with this threat. We will also need future variant specific boosters for future variants unknown today.

In other words we bear no responsibility but we need more funds to keep you safe.

*Breaking News* in Korea is that the omicron variant has been detected here.

The first cases of the omicron variant were confirmed in a couple in their 40s who recently traveled to
Nigeria and a man in his 30s whom they met after returning.

The couple returned to Korea on Nov. 24 after staying in Nigeria from Nov. 14 through 23. Their PCR
tests, taken on the day of their arrival, came back positive the next day.

As both were fully vaccinated, they were exempted from post-travel quarantine and had at least
a day to roam freely in Incheon, where they live.

They were "vaccinated as fvck," got on a plane, brought the o variant here, were free from quarantine (because they were V'd A F) and proceeded to pass the o variant around where they live.

Impossible to prove. The variant very well could have been there before those people but it wasn’t tested for until it was identified elsewhere.

Plenty of cases where the same variant is found where people haven’t travel out of the country or region.
