Body of missing juvenile from Baldwin discovered near Loreauville
IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) — The body of a juvenile that had been reported missing from Baldwin was located on Monday near Loreauville, according to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The juvenile had been reported missing on Oct. 30 and was found by deputies in a rural area near Ed Broussard Rd.
Au autopsy on the body has been requested and the results are pending. The investigation continues.
Anyone with information relative to this investigation is urged to contact Detective Jarred Spurlock of the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Investigation at (337) 369-3711.
UPDATE: 10:00P.M. IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) — An Acadiana family is asking for justice after their teenage son was found dead in a sugar cane field.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says they found a juvenile in a rural area Monday off Ed. Broussard Road. Quawan “Bobby” Charles first was reported missing to the Baldwin Police Department last Friday....
She says a so-called friend and his mother picked up the young teen without permission from either parent, “You cannot just take somebody’s son, bring them to your house, and not be accountable for them because he was in her custody.”
The family saw Quawan’s body at the coroner’s office with a large knot on his head. They believe someone hit him and hid his body. They were told the death is being investigated as a homicide.
On the evening of October 30th, Quawan Charles was picked up from his father’s house by a white male and his mother. His body was found November 2nd. The parish of St. Mary refuses to release the findings of the autopsy. In response, the family is attempting to raise funds needed to conduct a second autopsy before his funeral. An individual autopsy needs to be conducted before November 12th to ensure that all findings by the medical examiner can come back conclusive. The family asks that you give what you can during this difficult time.
The cops fucked up, yes. But the primary suspects (persons of interest) are the white mother and son, as well as the third white kid who narced on mother and son. Is there a reason we're not hearing from them, or a police comment on them?
How long does an autopsy take, and is it usual not to release information to a family?
How far was the sugarcane field from the alleged football game?

Police aren't going to release too much information before they have suspects in custody. At this point I'm betting there's evidence that only the killer(s) would know, and tipping them off with information would interfere with the investigation.

We now see some distinctively blacks names like Rasheed, Tremayne, Quawan, and Hakim.
100 years ago they saw some distinctively black names like Alonzo, Percy, Booker, and Isaiah.
I am sure there were names more frequently used. Did a quick search on Alonzo and came up with a bunch of 19th century white dudes as well as others. My sense is that it eventually became popular in the balck community which could have caused it to become less popular among whites. Tyrone is another good example of this. 40 years ago it was the typical generic balck name. 100 years ago, not so much. Percy was a very common anglo name before becoming popular with blacks. Booker was a fairly common anglo name and obviously became popular among blacks naming their children after one of the greatest American inventors of all time, Booker T. Washington. Isaiah is a biblical name. Not sure why it became popular among blacks, but it was also commonly used by whites.
So, each example given was a common name among Americans in general. It wasn't a "black name".

I don't get parents who look at the "current cool names" book, when deciding to name their children. Throughout history, we typically named children after relatives or friends we wanted to honor. My daughter is named after my wife's grandmother. My son after my Uncle who died in Vietnam.
I pity the kids out there who went through school assuming they were being called on every time they heard their name because there were 5 Amandas in her class.
BTW, that is my niece's name. My sister fell for that trend in 1990. Want an even better example? My wife's nephew's kids, Jacob, Hannah and Noah.
