Just because Coby has offered DVD players for $29 for years, I won't immediately condemn anything they make.

So, I agree with not everything is necessarily junk, but this will be crap compared to the ipad, moto Xoom and samsung galaxypad.
On the one hand I guess you can hardly complain too much for $150, considering I think that the Kindle, which only does 1 thing is a great deal for $150, but here is why you may think about holding off:
First and foremost: Large 7” Resistive Touchscreen - Resistive touchscreens suck. To be able to work with it properly, you'll probably need a stylus, which is even stated on other sites. Your finger should work, but will not be nearly as accurate as you may expect, especially if you use an iphone, ipod touch or android device currently.
It runs Android 2.1 and I wouldn't hold my breath for 2.2 or more importantly 3.0 to come out on it, which means a lot of the applications will never fit right on the screen.
By default this comes with 4Gb of storate and you'll have to go out and buy more to store music/video on there, which adds to the low low $150 price, even if its only another $30. Most phones now days come with 8 or 16Gb of built in storate.
800mhz cpu, when the de-facto standard has become 1ghz and all the new stuff is coming out with dual core Tegra chips. Most high end phones now have 1Ghz. Also there is no mention of the RAM memory, the memory used to run applications.
The resolution will be nothing compared to what the Xoom or Ipad2 will support, both out in the next few months.
I don't know if you use Wireless N at home, but this doesn't support it. This probably is not a huge deal, but all the new phones and devices are all coming out with 802.11n support.
This may be perfect for the kids, but I think you'd get tired of it in no time.
Personally I just upgraded to the DroidX which has a 4.3 " screen which will do fine for what I need while I wait for the new Tablets to hit the market and let people test them out before I commit to one in Q3 or Q4 probably, hopefully by which time you can get a real tablet for $200 to $300 easily. Samsung is about to drop a Wifi-only tablet, and the Moto has stated they will also launch a wifi-only model around the same time the wifi+3G model drops. As for reading, as I already mentioned, I have the Kindle, which rocks. One of the best features of the kindle is the fact that it can run for weeks with a single charge so I can just keep it in my bag and read it whenever I feel the need and only charge it every week or two. This device, witch its 7" resistive screen, will probably have trouble running much more than a day with any heavy usage.
With that said, yeah, its $150, so if you have the money to spare, honestly even if you just fool around with it for 6 months and then switch up, I doubt you'd feel like you were ripped off. Obviously the wifi only thing will limit you where you can use it, but again, its $150 so whatever. You can always use it for a month or two while its a 'new' gadget and then pass it off to your kid(s) for them to abuse or use in the car or at home instead of using the computer and accidentally finding your hidden porn.
