I've upgraded two of my desktops to 9.04 from Intrepid 8.10 this week. The laptop's still on 8.10 for a little while and the file server in the basement will get a major overhaul from Kubuntu 7.10 to Fedora 11 when I get some free time.

Question for the linux guys.

It was about two years ago I got a new laptop and made it dual boot between Vista and Ubuntu (can't recall the actual version # off hand). It all runs well, but at the time I saw there was alot of discussion regarding the hard drive start/stop or something like that that had people all freaking out that it was going to greatly reduce the lifespan of the hard drives, laptops only. Was this issue ever resolved, or was it really an issue/problem in the first place?
