I would like to see the money put in a trust for the players. Each semester that they get paid for their likeness the money goes into a trust fund. If the player is on track to graduate in 4.5 years then they get access to the money 3 semesters later. So earn coin in the fall semester of your freshman year then get access to it in the fall of your sophomore year.

This would keep 18 years olds from doing stupid things with a sudden pocket of cash. It also makes it harder to make impulse purchases. Of course if the athlete graduates on time then they get access to all the money. If the athlete falls behind graduation schedule of 4.5 years they loose access to the money for each semester they are not on track. If they drop out or get drafted give it to them a year later.

Since this in income, the trust/school should help the athlete with the taxes. Taxes will need to be paid, both federal and state plus any local income taxes. This is going to hurt some schools more than others.

I also think if players make above a certain amount then the school should be reimbursed for scholarship costs. Allow schools to waive this if athletes are on track to graduate.

Lots to get in the weeds over but hey that way s what we do here.

Of course it's good. This is MERICA, baby. We believe in free market capitalism here. No exceptions, not even when it hurts your favorite sports team. In fact this is TRUMP'S AMERICA, where those citizens that are willing and able, can freely monetize their skills, ingenuity, and hard work. Any of you beta cuck socialist soy boys don't like it, then you can get the hell out of my country! I hear Kanaduh is nice this time of year.
